Lizette's POV
My eyes fluttered open and I tried to sit up, before laying back down, hissing with pain. My right side was on fire, pain lancing through it like a spear point. I whimpered quietly, waiting for it to subside. "She's awake!" Someone hugged me, although it felt more like a rugby tackle, and I gave a little moan of pain. "Sorry!" Clary said, releasing her hold on me. "S' fine." I ground out from in between my teeth.
"Are you okay?" Jace's anxious face appeared beside Clary's. "Um, I think so..." I said, attempting to sit up again and succeding, this time without pain. Jace breathed a sigh of relief, before composing himself. "Sorry about that. I didn't mean to use so much force." I smiled at him. "It's fine, I've had worse."
"Really?" Jace asked. I grimaced. "Actually, no. I have never been kicked into a wall by my big brother before. I don't think that's ever happened to anyone." Jace grinned at me. "The sarcasm has finally shown itself though. It wasn't wasted." I groaned and slapped his arm feebly. "Jerk... Help me get up please. And Clary, can you call mom? My phone's in my pocket." Clary fished around in my pocket, pulled out my phone and dialled Jocelyn.
"Hey mom! Yeah, it's Clary. No, Lizette's fine... ish. Yeah, can you come pick us up? No one's been murdered, I promise. Uh-huh. Love you, bye!" Clary hung up and handed me my phone. I took it with my free hand, Jace had slung my other one around his neck to stop me toppling over. "Thanks Clary." Clary grabbed my other arm and we walked down the stairs to the front door, where I made them let go of me so mom wouldn't worry.
Jocelyn pulled up in front of the Institute and rolled down her window."Lizette, honey, are you alright? Oh, I knew this was a bad idea!" Jocelyn said as she started to get out of the car. "No, mom, I'm fine! We just finished traing for the day! Seriously, I'm fine." I reassured her. She stared at me hard, scrutinizing every little part of me, before sighing in defeat. "Fine, Lizette, Clary, get in the car, we're leaving. We're going out with Luke tonight anyhow." She got back in the car and Clary followed her. I looked at Jace, gave him a smile and followed Clary, getting into the back seat.
As we drove around the corner, I looked back at the Institute, and the boy with the golden hair standing in front of it. My big brother...
