The battle went on for days and nights, thunderstorms and hailstorms. The Nightmare Steves wouldn't stop coming. Both the Red and Yellow Steves were either trying to stand there ground, trembling in spot, or running off and away from the war. The Nightmare Steve's were too strong for the two other Steves kinds.
Pyramid stood in place, holding his iron sword up and his hands sweating. Next to him was his good friend Ray, a Red Steve. Ray was also holding his sword up, blood was trickling down it slowly, dry or fresh. Pyramid couldn't dare try and kill a Nightmare Steve. Red Steves were better at this sort of thing, but Pyramid had to, for his kind. The Nightmare Steves were Red and Yellow Steves too, but all they ever wanted was power which led Phramid here.
A Nightmare Steve jumped at him in the corner of his eye, his red eyes gleaming with anger and hatred. Ray jumped forward and slashed his sword on him, then faced Pyramid.
"Come on," he practically yelled, "You got to try too, for the greater good of our species!" And he leaped for another Nightmare Steve.
Pyramid looked around him. Him and Ray were one of the last few standing. He narrowed his eyes, where was his father?
"Father," he yelled. Pyramid spotted him across the battlefield. He was holding off one of the Nightmare Steves, but there was one sneaking up behind him. His father turned around just as the Nightmare Steve swung his sword down.
Pyramid shut his eyes closed and heard the crash of two swords striking each other. Opening his eyes, he looked at where his father stood. Luckily, he was still alive, but someone was there holding off the Nightmare Steve. The stranger's black and red cape flew to the side as the harsh wind blew. The person had a black hood over his head, just covering his robotic pale blue eye. His clothes were black and red with gold strikes. Pyramid could tell he was no Steve. But if so, who is that guy?
The stranger slashed his sword through the Nightmare Steves chest and hurried to the next one. Pyramid could only watch in awe. The sounds around him were fading as he watched the quick stranger kill off more Steves than any of them could. The stranger turned his head to Pyramid when he stabbed yet another Nightmare Steve. Fear shot through Pyramid. The stranger held up his sword and lunged toward him. Shielding his face and crouching down, he waited for the quick pain from the strnager's sword before his death. It did not come. He lowered his hands and the stranger was gone. But he heard a muffled scream of a Nightmare Steve behind him. Turning around, he saw the stranger standing there in front of him with his sword through another Nightmare Steve. Pyramid then realized that the newcomer was not attacking him, but saving him. He opened his mouth to say thanks, but the stranger jumped away in one large leap over the treetops. Pyramid watched as the newcomer's cape disappear in the moonlight. He felt warm hands rap around his neck and he started. Turning, he saw it was just his father.
"You're alright," he whispered.
"Yes, Father," Pyramid said, "I'm fine. But-"
His father pulled away at his silence. "What is it?"
Pyramid hesitated for a moment, then spoke softly, "Someone saved me, and he was no Steve."
His father furrowed his brow and rubbed the back of his head. "Who?"
Pyramid shrugged, "Some stranger just saved my life."
His father was silent for some time. Pyramid didn't like the quiet, but then he heard a Red Steve some distance to the right of him speaking to a Yellow Steve quietly.
"That person," the Red Steve said, "he saved our lives."
"True," the Yellow Steve said, "But he can't be trusted."
"Why not, sir," the Red Steve asked, "he just saved a kid's life! He saved our lives too. Would you rather have died?"
The Yellow Steve was quiet, but he soon spoke, his voice stern. "No, but I know things you don't."
"Like what," the Red Steve asked, sounding annoyed by the Yellow Steve's bickering.
"That person," the Yellow Steve said, "Killed the Rainbow Steves."
