*Hunters POV*
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Eight more hours until I'm reunited with my girlfriend. I seemed to forget how much I miss people that I love when I'm away for too long, because that is happening right now as I'm lying awake at four in the morning.
I wasn't even tired, truly. I had so much excitement and nervousness built up inside of me that was urging to appear. When the sun finally began to light up the sky, I heard other people begin to move in the hallway outside the hotel room I was in. It was a weird feeling to be in a hotel since I'm so used to sleeping on the bus on our way to the next show, but the bus was sent to a repairman last night to check on a few things with the engine. So, everyone checked into a hotel about three hours from the next venue, the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette, Louisiana! I would be staying at my parents tonight and tomorrow with Ally while the rest of the band and crew stayed in a hotel in Lafayette.
Around noon, I would be picking Ally up from the airport and driving to Breaux Bridge to meet my parents. Until then, I would just have to keep myself busy by visiting some old friends once we arrived in town.
At 6:30, I made myself get out of the comfy hotel bed and showered, changed into my daily clothes, and packed my few things back into my backpack. Then I took my keys, walking down to the lobby where Sam and Devo sat, drinking the hotel coffee. I set my bag down and poured myself some then sat down next to them.
"Morning Hunter!"
"Morning, we almost ready to head out?" I asked between sips.
"Once the rest of the crew gets here, then we will." Devo mumbled, keeping his eyes on the television screen that silently had the news on.
We sat in silence until everyone else began to show up in the lobby. Then we boarded the bus and hit the road.
I fell asleep on the bus and slept the whole way to Lafayette, but woke up just in time for us to pull off the highway and into the town. I grabbed my phone for a time check and saw that Ally had texted me saying her flight was boarding and that she'd see me soon. I decided to get up and go find something to eat before heading straight for the airport. There would only be enough time to visit a few people before her flight landed.
"Hey I'll see you boys later! I'm going to get something to eat and pick up Ally!" I yelled as I grabbed my backpack.
"See you later!" Steve yelled back as I exited the bus and climbed into the car that I was renting while being in town.
Immediately I knew where I was and it made my heart swell with happiness. It felt good to be home again, especially playing shows here as well. But the best part of being here, I'm just Hunter. Not the famous country singer, Hunter Hayes, just a normal guy named Hunter. One with the crowd.
I found a small café that I used to go to all the time before moving to Nashville. When I went inside, the door chimes rattled against one another, notifying the man behind the counter of my presence. I recognized the man as the owner, Jerry. A delighted smile appeared on his face.
"Ah, Hunter, good to see you again." He said while leaning up against the counter.
"You too, Jerry. How are you?" I asked.
"Mighty fine and well. You just gettin' in to town?" I nodded. "The whole town's been a buzzin' about your concerts this week!"
"That's good to hear." He then asked me what I was ordering. "Do you remember the usual?" I asked him with a smile.
He nodded and pointed up to the board with all the different types of coffee on it. "We renamed your order and put it up on the board. It's been quite popular!"
