"Clementine, wake up!" Yelled a deep muffled voice. Her eyes slowly fluttered open as she turned to her bedside table. Her phone was blasting an annoying tune as it vibrated continuously. Her hand reached over to the device and tapped the screen, stopping the beeping sound. "Alright. I'm up dad!" She shouted croakily as she rubbed her eyes and moved her cover to the side. She tapped the screen again to check the time, it was 6:30am. Her dark brown hair was in a messy bun and her curls were flying all out of place. Her golden eyes stung as the brightness of her phone pierced them. But either way her eyes really complemented her light skin.
She lifted her body off of the bed and walked over to her dresser. Her school uniform was neatly folded. There was: a dark blue knee-length skirt, a white long-sleeve shirt, long white socks and a red scarf to put around her neck. On top of her uniform laid a golden necklace that had the letter 'C' hanging from it. A wide smile grew on her face as she put the piece of jewellery on. She knew this type of thing could have only been her mother.
After taking a shower, getting dressed and brushing her curly mess, she headed downstairs and greeted her family. "Morning, goofball." She chuckled as she ruffled her hand through AJ's curls. She then walked around the table which her father and her brother sat at. "Good morning, Dad. And Mom." She spoke in a happy tone. She didn't want them leaving on a bad note. They had a business meeting which they both had to attend. None of them were sure when they'd be back, so they'd called a family friend to take care of AJ and Clementine, while they were gone. "Wow, look at you in your new uniform. You look gorgeous sweetie." Diana spoke as she pulled Clementine in for a warm hug. "Thanks mom, also for the necklace. It's beautiful." She squealed as she showed it off to her little brother, he rolled his eyes as he poured his cereal.
Her and her brother highly resembled their parents; she had light skin, dark brown hair and honey eyes like her mother; he had darker skin, black hair and dark brown eyes like her father. But despite the fact her father was only in his mid-40s, he had a fully-grown beard that had tiny streaks of grey. And so, did his low-cut hair. Her mother on the other hand had quite a big healthy afro.
Ed had his daily newspaper in his hand, like usual, "Darling, since you've wanted a pet for a while. And we don't know how long we'll be, I got you something you might like." He lifted from his chair and laid the paper down. He headed over to the living room and came back with a bag of a transparent liquid that held something orange. "What's that?" She asked as she walked over to him. "It's a goldfish, look." He chuckled as his eyes lit up. Clementine said she wanted a pet, but a goldfish? That wasn't her idea of that. But she didn't want to upset her dear father, he just looked too cheerful. "Awe, thanks dad. That means a lot." She gave him a fake smile as she hugged him tight. He then handed her the bag and pointed a box that sat on the couch. "It has all the stuff you'll need." He grinned before sitting back down at the dining table. She then laid the bag on the table. Clem's mother stood leaned up against the counter with her brow raised and arms crossed. She was the only one who could tell Clem didn't really like his gift, but she decided to stay quiet.
"Honey, we decided to call Lee to take care of you both." Diana spoke as she walked over to her daughter. Clementine's eyes lit up at her words, "Lee! Lee? Lee Everett?" She screeched as she held her hand over her open mouth. "Yes. He seemed very happy to come look after you. And I know I can trust him. We've been friends since you were eight." Ed interrupted as he flipped a page. "Thanks Dad!" She exclaimed as she hugged him in his chair. "No problem darling. Now just get ready for school. You don't want to be late for your first day, do you?" He grinned as she dashed up the stairs.
She entered her room and picked up her black backpack that had the word 'Vans' written across it in white text. She stuffed in: her pencil case, phone charger, note pad, a bottle of mist spray, a folder and some spare tampons and pads just in case. She then dashed down the stairs and slung the bag over her shoulder. "I'm ready." She spoke as she strolled over the door. Her mother was now cleaning the dishes in the basin, "Honey your father is already outside. Come here so I can give you a hug before we leave." She chuckled. Clem did as she was told then dashed out into the garden.
