When I enter the dorm, Mari is attempting to put her hair in a bun. It's actually quite pretty on her. Her skin is so perfect, she has zero flaws. She turns her head towards me and greets me with a smile. "Where have you been on this fine morning?" She says as I make my way over to the closet. I try to hide my smile after being reminded that I just spent this very odd, yet staggering moment with Damon.
"I was actually at the gym. It's actually a daily thing I did back home." I say grabbing my outfit for the day, a simple white shirt cropped up the belly button, with the high waisted mom jeans. Quickly, I make my way to the bathroom, showering once more for the day, wrapping the towel around before I walk into the room. Taking a glance at Mari, she simply stares at me.
I can tell she has something on her mind but she cant quite make it out. I put my outfit on my bed and roll my eyes. "I know you want to say something, go ahead." I say. She lightens up with a smile and puts her black boots on. "It's just..." She stops. "Go on." I say. "I saw how you were looking at that guy. Do you like him?" She asks.
I practically fucking predicted this. "You mean Damon?" I say now interested in the conversation.
She nods. "Pfft, I don't like him. He's just another guy who tries to use his looks and his charms to get a girl." I say changing my outfit and tossing my sweaty workout outfit in the laundry basket. She scoffs. "How would you know?" Her mood instantly changes, as if she's about to defend this guy. "I don't, but I can tell from this morning." I say accidentally. Her mouth drops. "You were with him this morning?" She says in shock.
Fuck, what the actual fuck. I didn't mean to say that.
"Yeah." I admit. "Accidentally though." I add. She smiles. "Okay, So what was he saying that was so, charming?." The way she emphasizes charming makes me want to gag for some reason. I get up and grab my bag to get ready to head to my classes. "Well, it was my of his eyes that did the talking, he said I wasn't his type, but then again I am his type, ask for my number, and..." I began to smile and I ended up giving a nervous laugh. "He said I was stunning." I said quickly. She began to screech like a teenage girl with full of excitement. "Stunning. He's into you." She says. I roll my eyes and groan. "Enough of this mawkish talk. I'm going to my Creative Writing class." I say heading out the door.
As I entered the class I sat in the back row. In high school I sat usually in the front but once I entered College I grew more, shy. All the students filled the room taking their seats, chattering away. The professor then walked in. He looked a little bit in his thirties and wore a taupe colored vest with the same colored jeans. For a man his age he looked quite attractive. He had light brown hair, and his arms looked a little buff.
He sat down his belonging and placed his hands in his desk. "Good morning, students. Welcome to Creative Writing. I am your professor..." he paused as a tattooed covers guy walks in sitting next to me. He had on a dark blue shirt with black jeans. Something about this one catches my eye. The professor eyed the guy as he found his seat next to me and continued to speak.
"I am professor Reynolds. I want to say that I am very delighted to have you all in my class this semester and I hope you can learn a thing or two about art that you haven't known or even acknowledged." He says. The guy next to me mumbles. "Full of shit." He says. I laugh a little, somewhat agreeing to his statement. He turns and looks my way a little and looks back at Professor Reynolds.
"Everyone's familiar with the Twilight novels correct?" Professor Reynolds states. "Yeah, but who cares? I bet we could all care less about a vampire and a werewolf falling in love with a human." A girl from the front calls out.
Reynolds begins to laugh. "That is very true, but in this class your lack of care is only going to fail you." He snaps.
"Ouch." The guy next to me says. The girl shuts up and Professor Reynolds continues. "The relationship, and the bond between The three, Well Bella's relationship with them, is very interesting. Her love for both of them was very strong." He says.
"They should've just had a threesome, maybe then she would've found out sooner who to choose." Someone calls out.The room fills with laughter, except for me, the guy next to me, and the professor. Professor Reynolds takes off his glasses and let's of a sigh. He then looks up at us. "What is love?" He asks.
Everyone remains quiet. "Now we all know that it's the ability to love someone. Either a father, a mother, a boyfriend, and girlfriend, anything. What is the concept of love?" He asks.
Love never occurred to me. Yes I loved my parents, and my siblings but, loving someone other than family never crossed my mind. Out of nowhere the guy next to me starts to speak out loud. "Love, is bullshit." He says.
I could tell just by those words Professor Reynolds begins to tense. "You say love is, bullshit, but have you actually experienced it, Mr..." He stops. "Nathaniel Buzolic." He says with a thick Australian accent.
"Well Mr. Buzolic-" Nathaniel stops Professor.Reynolds. "It's Nathaniel." He says in a harsh tone.
"Nathaniel." He corrects himself. "I haven't exactly been in many relationships but love is just a distraction. The triangle between Bella, Edward and wolf boy was very absurd." He says. Professor Reynolds puts his glasses back on seeming engaged in the conversation now. "How so?" He says putting his hands on his hips.
Nathaniel straightens up in his seat and rubs his temples. "It's pointless because why would you spend your time loving two people at the same time when you're simply stringing them along. When the time comes to choose, all you're doing is breaking that person emotionally and physically, like Bella was doing Jacob because she couldn't make up her damn mind." He says.
For someone who deeply loves the twilight saga this is where I draw the line. "Love isn't pointless. It was hard for Bella to choose because they were both there for her. When one wasn't there, for example Edward, who left for what, six months, left her in a forest and didn't contact her at all, Jacob was there for her. You can't blame her for loving them both." I say. Nathaniel turns to me and rolls his eyes.
"How can you love someone yet string them along? She practically had Jacob waiting for something he was never going to get." He argues. I laugh. "That wasn't Bella's issue. It's not her fault that they ended up catching feelings for her. I think she made it very clear to him she wasn't interested. Jacob out of all people was the dumb one. Bella didn't have him waiting for her, that was his own doing." I say back raising my voice.
Now the entire class has their attention on both me and Nathaniel. "Okay, So that was a fun little class debate. Onto the assignment. I want you all to right an essay, on the purpose of love. I want all your opinions on it and it will be presented to the front of the class next week." He says. I close my journal and shove them into my backpack. Nathaniel side eyes me as I get up from my seat. As I try to cross over him, as clumsy as I am I trip over his foot.
My heart races as he catches me, his hands on my waist. His eyes are so beautiful. We stare at each other for a moment and he helps me up. "Watch your step next time." He says to me.
Rude. I give him a simple nod and begin to walk away. He grabs my wrist softly and begins to speak. "You forgot something." He says holding my notebook. All I can do is stare into those perfectly brown eyes of his. "Thank you." I say quickly as he turns away and walks in the opposite direction. All of a sudden I'm getting these burning desires, and butterflies just by the thought of him.
Nathaniel Buzolic. I'll keep his name in mind.
