in which busy schedules get in the way of planning dates.

"i'm sorry, renjun. i can't make it today, i have dance practice and meetings, then an interview later tonight."

"sorry renjun, my schedules packed this weekend, maybe next time?"

with effie's work schedule taking up most of her time, she hasn't been able to go on a first date with the one boy who asked her out almost a month ago. she had been texting him non-stop, which was a sign to renjun that effie didn't completely ghost him.

with the new comback, interviews, one year anniversary, dance practices, and constant hour-long updating on v-live, she was way too exhausted to go on a simple date at any time of the day. she kept reassuring him that when things would die down, they'd go on as many dates as they could.

"alright. sorry again. goodnight, renjun." effie huffed, partly in frustration, and partly in fatigue. she felt too tired to move towards her own bed, and just decided to lay on the couch in their living room as she tried organizing a free day for herself and renjun in her calendar for the hundredth time. all she saw were reminders of different colours, all coded by the colours of blue and green.

her mind swirled for a moment, as she clutched it, hoping it would stop the pain that overcame her entire mind. she was being overworked, she knew it. she knew that she could easily free up her schedule for a day if she just told the staff how she felt, then they would most likely let her out of any activities for a day, but she didn't want to miss out any of the work she would be missing. on the other hand, she could go out with renjun for a day. choosing between working and fun was extremely hard for effie to try and choose, because she was always thinking of the opportunity cost.

"effie, you've fucked up. you've fucked up immensely," she told herself as her mind wouldn't stop spinning, very worried if she was going to faint or throw up, or even both. she didn't get up, and instead lifted her legs in the air, against the wall; a trick her grandmother taught her if she saw anybody faint and needed to help them.

gradually, the spinning stopped, and effie slowly got up, careful not to rush, and walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water as she made the hard decision to call the staff.

"hello? uh, yes this is effie...no jisung's not in any trouble...i'm fine yes...i know this is a sudden question, but could i have the day off tomorrow? i know i have a few things to do, it's just that i haven't had a day off for a while, and this'll be the only day, i promise...really? oh think you so much! yes, thank you again, bye."

effie immediately punched the air in happiness before slowing down in case of another dizzy spell would overcome her. she drank the water, layed back down in her own - much comfier - bed and called her soon-to-be boyfriend.

"hey, renjun. guess what?"

"you've burnt your whole dorm down?"

"haha. very funny. but i got a whole free day tomorrow so we can go on a date!"

renjun was silent for a few moments, "are you messing with me?"

"no," effie laughed at how shocked he sounded.

"thank you jesus tap-dancing christ!"

effie heard a high five in the background as it was her turn to become silent, "you good?"

renjun answered her quietly, "i'm going on a date with you."

it was silent on the line, before renjun screamed, "i'm going on a date with effie park!"

effie hung up, knowing he was going to be screaming for the next hour, then let out a laugh of genuine happiness as she stuffed her face into her pillow, giggling like a child, an action that she had never done before. she was acting so excited, it almost disgusted her.

"jesus tap-dancing christ, i'm going on a date with huang renjun."
