The ground. That was what I suddenly saw. There were leaves, shiny leaves covering all that I could see. I widened my eyes looking around my surroundings. The trunk of trees that seemed to go up forever. If it wasn't oak or birch trees then it was pine trees. The trees were odd though. The trunks were shiny, reflecting what I thought looked like shiny purples, blues, greens, and yellows. It was pretty, prettier than in real life. The leaves glistened with sunlight and water droplets.

This place, wherever I was, was the most peaceful place that I have ever been to. It was such a beautiful place, almost unreal, maybe it wasn't real . . .

The sound of birds suddenly appeared and I looked up to see white birds flying in the sky majestically. I found the way the birds flew almost perfect if it wasn't already.

I leaned up from against the trunk that I had been leaning on. My hand gently rubbed against the bark of the tree, and I was surprised by the fact that the tree wasn't rough like I had thought it would be, then what it should have been.

Most tree trunks were rough feeling but this wasn't rough. Instead, it felt light, like if I push on it hard enough that it would change its original shape. It as weird, that was all that I could describe it as. The trunks rose up into the sky and blended together once the branches extended into whichever direction they chose. The branches covered in an abundance of leaves seemed to block out the sky, and that of the sky that was visible was a bright sky blue and the shining sun. The spot that I was at, the bottom of the visible trunk was covered in a light layer of moss, making where I was sitting much more comfortable than the ground would have been. Small white flowers were growing out of the moss, making it more beautiful. To me, the whole scene looked like it came out a painting of a place long forgotten and lost.

This place . . . it felt like a dream-like the entire place was fake. None of the things I were seeing were things that could be found anywhere near where I live. It was warmer here. Back at home, we were about to enter the middle of fall, the leaves were already beginning to fall, the leaves here seemed like they wouldn't be falling anytime soon. This place looked as if it was trapped in an eternal spring, magical spring. Trees didn't look this beautiful in the real world. Trees didn't block out the actual sky majority of the time. Flower season was most definitely over, we weren't in this season anymore, this place couldn't be real and if it is, I am most definitely not near home.

Suddenly everything went very quiet. The birds stopped chirping and stopped fluttering their wings. The trees stopped rustling about as they had been. The wind stopped, not a breeze could be heard--or felt. I had thought I had heard some source of water before but I most definitely didn't now. It was as if the entire world had been muted. The only thing I could hear is myself. I could hear my hand running on the bark of the tree. I could hear the sound of my breath as I breathed in and out calmly, but loud enough to be heard.

Out of the silence, I began to hear footsteps coming in my direction very quietly, so quiet that I almost missed it.

My head snapped in the direction of the footsteps and as the world, I had just gotten used to began to fade into a bright light I heard a word, a single word as the world disappeared before my eyes.

"Finnixks . . . "

~

Very slowly a dull light began to be seen through my closed eyes making irritation. I wanted to go back to sleep, I wanted to know who had said my actual name. It wasn't something that I liked to go by since the majority of people mispronounced it. It was simply a whole lot easier to go by the name Red over Finnixks. I liked how Red simply rolled off the tongue when most peoples tongues get tied when they try to say Finnixks.
