OK hopefully this will upload this time! There is some tame swearing (I;m trying to keep it PG), but the plot needs it. JUST SAY NO TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!

This is dedicated to my best friend Jo (not on wattpad sadly), whose identity I've stolen for Ali. Hope you don't mind! :)

Chapter Nine - Out with the Old, In With the New

I woke up early in the morning and rolled out of bed. Sneaking through to the sitting room I found the bedding neatly folded up and a note on top. It looked so neat and professionally done, maybe he worked in hotels, or was a cleaner?! That thought stirred something in my memory, it was like I could see something just out of the corner of my eye, but the more I tried to turn and focus on it, the more it slid away. Maybe it was just deja vu?

The note said that Angelo had to leave early to pop home and change before he went to work and that he'd catch up with me soon. Very formal and factual. No hint of the man behind the words, everything about him was very reserved and I thought, not for the first time, 'still waters run deep', there was a lot more to this man then meets the eye.

Realising that I'd better get a move on as lectures started at nine and I had a lunchtime shift at the bar so I'd be finishing at six tonight. I should go and see Jay after that. I had promised, but I really didn't want to, just the thought of him made me uneasy. My head was telling me to stay far away from him and to end it quickly. Like ripping off a plaster. My heart was telling me to give him another chance. It would be really bitchy to dump him just after he spent three days nursing me.

Wait a minute, how had I gone to the toilet while passed out? Why wasn't I hungry or thirsty when I woke up? Surely I'd have been near death without liquid?

My eyes narrowed. He'd lied to me. Again. Again I'd fallen for it. Did I want to know what had really happened? I was missing three days, that was the only thing I knew for sure, and someone had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure no-one would be worrying where I was. Phone calls to my uni department, my work and a note for Ali. It was actually quite scary.

Before I could think any more about it, I picked up my phone and dialled Jay's number. His answer machine picked up (of course he'd be asleep at this time in the morning!). "Jay, it's Lily." I paused, so angry I couldn't even think straight. "I won't be coming to see you today. I think you know why. In fact I never want to see you again. Don't bother phoning me back, I've made up my mind." Then I hung up and deleted all his details from my phone. No going back now!

I heard Ali stirring in her bedroom. I stuck my head round the door "don't suppose you're driving into campus for a nine o'clock lecture?" I asked hopefully.

Under her messy blond hair, she smiled slowly at me. "Someone need a lift?!... Mr Sexy still here?"

"No, he's legged it. And yes I'd love a lift." I did a deep sigh. "Ali, I've given up on men, they're more trouble then they are worth!"

"Blimey! Did I miss something last night?" Her green eyes flew open in surprise.

"No, it's just that I've finally woken up to what a lying, cheating idiot Jay is. I've dumped his sorry ass!"

"YEEEEAAAAAA! FINALLY" Ali was jumping up and down on her bed whooping and cheering like a mad woman.

"He wasn't that bad was he?" I asked.

Ali calmed down and came over and gave me a hug. "Well the fact that you never brought him over here or introduced him to me, should tell you a lot....From what you told me, he really didn't respect you and as my adopted sister, that's just not good enough!"
