Chapter 13: More Than a Man

Jenny sent dad and the team here to Macy's house to examine Jim's body and office. Macy and her mother were both still in shock about everything. At least telling them about me went better than I thought it would. Macy's mom had went to go lay down as me and Macy stayed with dad and the team downstairs.

"I'm going to make some coffee. You want any babe?" Macy asked.

"I'd love some. Thanks babe." I replied kissing her head.

That got her to smile just a little bit as she walked to the kitchen. I felt so bad for her. It has been such an eventful night. I wish I could make her feel better, but I couldn't bring Jim back to life.

"You ok son?" dad asked me.

"Yeah. I'm just concerned about Macy." I replied.

"Does she know about you?"

"Yeah. I told her when we found Jim."

Dad nods. "Did you ever make contact with him?"

"No. I was supposed to meet him tonight over dinner."

Dad nods. "What have we got team?"

"There's really not much here, Boss." Tim said.

"He was shot from outside the house, Boss." Tony said.

"Then go find where he shot from, DiNozzo." dad said.

"Yes, Boss." Tony said as him and Ziva went outside.

"What have you got, Ducky?" I asked.

"Clearly the bullet didn't go all the way through, so it's still there. But we won't know more until I do the autopsy." Ducky said.

Once they got all of the evidence, including his laptop and computer, they loaded up everything and headed back to NCIS. I was going to head back later. I just wanted to make sure that Macy and her mom will be okay. I walked into the kitchen and saw Macy sitting at the table. I fix me a cup of coffee and sat down next to her.

"You okay?" I asked her.

"I honestly don't know." She replied.

"I know how it feels. Losing a parent."

"You do?"

"Yeah. I lost my sister and my mom."

"How did they die?"

"It's a long and very sensitive story."

"You don't have to tell me now. But I would like to hear it sometime."

I nodded. "I'll tell you eventually."

"Do you think that I could be some help with the case?"

"I honestly have no idea, but we can find out."

She nods.

"Will you and your mom be okay while I go to the Navy Yard?"

"Can we not go with you?"

"As long as you're safe I don't mind."

"I think we'd be safer going with you. Which I always feel safe around you."
