I arrived at NCIS and went up to the squad room. Macy nearly tackled me into a hug when she saw me. I guess Tim told everyone that I got a call from the killer.
"Are you okay?" Macy asked me clearly worried.
"I'm fine, Macy." I replied.
"What did he sound like, Robin?" Dad asked.
"His voice was deep and rough. From what I could tell he's probably 5'6 to 5'10, a bit hefty maybe. I couldn't give you any facial features." I replied.
"You got that just from a voice?" Macy asked.
"How your voice sounds can tell all kinds of different things." I said as I winked at her.
"What did the killer say?" Tim asked.
"Not much really, but from what I gathered he's going to try and kill her no matter how much protection we assign to her." I replied.
"Then what do we do?" Macy asked.
"We keep you here." Dad replied.
"Yeah. The killer wouldn't dare try to come into a federal office building to kill one person." I said.
"True. But how will we catch him if Tim couldn't trace the call?" Macy asked.
"That's a good question." I replied.
"Robbin, I want you with her 24/7. Where she goes, you go. Got it?" Dad said.
I nod. "What about the case?"
"Let us handle it. I'll keep you in the loop." Dad said.
I nod as me and Macy head down to Abby's lab.
I was able to get Macy to get some rest. It's going to be a long case and she needs as much rest as she can get. Of course I wasn't going to be getting any sleep. Which I never really get any sleep anyway. I was scared for her. I held a little box in my hands staring at it. Yes, I was going to propose at dinner tonight. Now I don't know if I'll ever get the chance again. I put the box away and stood up from my spot beside Macy. I walked into the lab part where Abby was.
"Robin, you don't look good." Abby said.
"I know Abs." I replied.
"Is it your Insomnia?"
I nodded.
"Do I need to call Gibbs down here?"
"No. He doesn't know about my Insomnia."
"Why haven't you told him?!"
"I don't want him to worry about me."
"That's his job, Robin! He's supposed to worry about you!"
"I know, but he has other things to worry about Abs."
"You get in there and get some sleep!"
"I can't Abs. What have you got on the bullet?"
She sighed. "The bullet was a .300 Winchester Magnum fired from a Bolt Action Rifle."
"Anyone can own that kind of gun. Some people use it for hunting."
"I know. This is going to be a long case."
A week. It's been a week since Macy's mother's death. We had her funeral yesterday and there was no sign of the killer. We have nothing to go on. Our case went cold. I haven't been able to sleep since this case started. I'm even too afraid to leave Macy alone at home. She keeps telling me that I should go home and that she can take care of herself, but my gut feeling is still there. If I leave her the killer will strike. That didn't stop him though.
Me and Macy walked out of the building to the parking garage. A man stepped out in front of us with a gun in his hand.
"I told you that you couldn't protect her forever." He said as he shot Macy.
I quickly drew my weapon and shot him in the chest killing him dead. I then get down next to Macy placing a hand on the wound trying to stop the bleeding. The bullet didn't go too deep, but enough to cause some damage. Macy looked up at me placing her hand over mine. I pulled out my phone and called dad.
"Gibbs." He said.
"Me and Macy are down in the parking garage. She's been shot." I told him choking up a bit because of the tears.
"Stay there. Call 911 and get help. We'll be down in a second."
"Okay, Dad." I said hanging up the phone and calling 911.
"Am I going to be okay?" Macy asked.
"Yes. You have to be." I replied as the 911 operator answered.
We get Macy to the hospital and she was sent straight into surgery.
"I love you, Robin. Whatever happens this isn't your fault. You did your best and you are not to blame." Macy said being taken to the surgical ward.
"I love you too, Macy!" I called after her as she was taken away.
I had been sitting in the lobby for several hours. I haven't heard anything from the nurses or doctors. I was scared and nervous. I was worried that I would lose the best thing that has ever happened me. I was scared for her life. She would've died because I failed to do my job and protect her. But her words continued to fill my head. I loved her so much. I didn't want to see her die, but the news the doctor brought was what I was hoping that wouldn't happen. She had bled out during surgery. She was gone. The one that I was wanting to spend the rest of my life with was gone.
