•a couple weeks later•
Just finishing deep cleaning my apartment so I won't have anything to worry about next month when I leave for Japan, I sit in the middle of my closet going through my clothes to finish switching the winter out for the summer.
Folding a sweater, I glance up when Wesley enters with my ringing phone.
"It's your boo" she leans her shoulder on the door frame popping her gum.
"Well answer it" I tell her packing my sweater away.
Another bubble, Wesley slides her thumb across the screen before putting the phone against her ear, "Nava's phone, Wesley, wife and best friend, speaking" she answers almost making me laugh. "{...} She's right here did you wanna talk to her? {...} Sure thing, Abe"
Handing me my phone I shake my head as I accept it, "Hey, baby" I giggle.
"Hey. Why did Wesley have your phone?"
"Because I left it in another room, and she brought it to me. What's up? Have you taken off yet?"
Abel has been away for the past three weeks on business in New York and performing at festivals in Europe, so I've really missed him.
"Ask him how my baby is" Wesley tells me just as Abel says.
"Yeah, we took off a few hours ago, I'll be home soon, Angel"
"Oh yay" I smile when Wesley elbows my side after sitting on her knees beside me. "Oh and Wes wants to know how Lamar is" I add.
"She got a phone, tell her to text him. I just called to tell you we've been invited to dinner at Sal and Rima's tonight so meet me at the house"
"You could have told me this in a text message ya know"
"I know, I just needed to hear your voice" he responds, and I feel a blush creep along my cheeks. "I can't wait to see you" he goes on.
"Me neither" I bite my lip kindly embarrassed because Wesley is hard looking me in my mouth waiting for her answer. "What time should I be there?"
"I should be landing around four and dinners at nine"
"Alright, I'll see you soon"
"See you soon, baby. I love you"
"I love you too" I reply before hanging up.
"Well? What did he say?"
Looking at the time I see I have a little over an hour until Abel touches down, "Sal and Rima are having a dinner and we're invited"
"About Lamar, Nava" she deadpans, and I remember her question.
"Oh, he's doing great. They'll be here soon"
Wesley's eyes narrow in suspicion, "That's not what Abel said is it?"
"I'm pretty sure that's what he meant" I nod my head and Wesley pushes me.
"I swear you are the worst liar I have ever met" she laughs, and I force one back because I think I'm a better liar than she gives me credit for.
I've yet to tell Abel about Callum; I'm not sure I need to honestly. I figured if I keep my distance, and Tahj stays with me I'll be alright until we leave for Japan.
So far, I haven't had any more close-run ins, and I hope it stays that way.
My phone in my lap I go back to folding my clothes, "Why don't you just text him yourself?"
