in 1993, a breakthrough new technology, known as Crispr, gave scientists a path to treat incurable diseases through genetic editing. In 2016, due to its potential for misuse, the U.S intelligence community designated genetic editing a " weapon of mass destruction and proliferation". if only they knew what they were creating. and it all started in space, in a spacecraft filled with silence and smelled of death. but only if people on earth knew what was happened inside.
"Athena-1. Athena-1, come in. Athena-1, this is control. we have a negative copy on that last transmission. we are showing loss in the command module. please verify. over" as the voice was coming through the headset, a woman was making her way to the escape pod moving the body's of her dead friends the were floating around her, she had fear in her voice as she replied to man on the headset she was wearing, " mission control, this is Atkins. something went wrong with the test. the crew is dead" she said her voice filled with fear and she moves bits of the ship from her path as she kept making her way towards the pod. " Athena hull integrity is critical. I'm heading to the escape capsule". she saw the escape pod up ahead but then heard noises as the ship shakes and the lights flicker, she heard the man's voice again, " negative, negative, reroute to the lab and secure the canisters before departure" her eyes wide in shock at what she was hearing, she shakes her head " but test subject is loose" " doctor, the test subject is a rat" " not anymore".
she makes it to the pod door before he hears something moving behind her, she looks and sees nothing as she heard the screeches of the test subject, she tries to open the door but it would not move, it was locked. " what is this?" she asked in anger as she kept trying to open the door, " you have your orders, doctor" " open the goddamn door". then a women's voice came on the headset, " dr. Atkins, it's Claire Wyden. we'll unlock the escape capsule when you secure the samples". Arkin turns to face the dark and broken hallway, she hears the roars of the test subject, she was scared and it was showing on her face. " doctor, either you come home with my research or don't come home at all" Atkins sighs and stars making her way back to the lad, as she was making her way, she goes to the wall and grabs a black case before she made it to the lad door. she takes a deep breath before she goes into the lad. she scans her finger on a small case on the wall and it opens showing some small stone boxes inside, she opens the case and starts placing the stone boxes inside slowly, " mission control. securing the samples now." " copy that" but then as she places the third box inside the case the alarm went off the lights started flickering red " warning, hull integrity critical". then Atkins hears a screech coming from behind her as she closes the case, she turns and sees the test subject behind her as the ships started going into flames. " oh god" she started making her way back to the escape pod as the rat started following her but explosions of the ship kept the test subject back from her, " open it!" Atkins yelled out as the escape pod opens as she climbs in, she turns the wheel on the door as the creature charges at it at the pod and smashed onto the window of the pod.
she back up from the window and stapes herself in her seat before clicking buttons before she pushes a lever before the pod shot off from the spacecraft into space, she sighs with relief as she watches the craft go off in flames, she looks to her left and saw the case beeping, then she hears cracking and looks at the window and saw the window cracking until a flash of light blinded her then the pod burst into flames and shattered into pieces. then as the pod exploded and the three samples started to fall into the earth and this is only the begging of something bigger than ever.
