Regret fills your body the moment you step out of the car and catch a glimpse of the the massive fraternity house atop the hill. The house is overflowing with drunken college students (and brave locals), all stumbling around with cliche red cups in hand. You can see the bright flashing of strobe lights through the windows, smoke from a fog machine pouring out the open doors, and you can feel the pounding bass of a top forty remix beneath your feet as you decide, before even stepping into the party, that this is not the way you want to spend your night.

"I know you said this is a paint party," you sigh as you take the mixed drink from Britt's hand, "but, like, what kind of paint?"

Britt laughs at the question and shakes her head as she pours vodka into her own cup. "It'll wash out," she assures you with a grin, "of your hair, anyway. There's a reason you wear white to these parties. Come on, it'll be fun. I met Ash at their paint party last year. Who knows, maybe this year you'll find someone?"

You want to roll your eyes, tell her that you doubt it, but you bite your tongue and allow her to lead you up the stairs and into the chaos known as Frat Row. The Sigma Chi house is the only one that looks even somewhat alive, and you frown when you realize just how many people are milling about.

"It looks like half the fucking campus is here," you breathe as you glance around at the crowd, "how has no one shut this shit down yet?"

Britt laughs openly at your grumbling as she loops her arm through yours. "Just drink, okay? It'll lighten you up. Come on, no cover for girls!"

Before you can reach the door, you hear a drunken voice slur, "Smile, sweetheart! You're at a party."

You scowl at the drunken brother leaning against the side of the frat house, but before you can snap back at him, a tall blonde with a head full of curls shoos him away. "Sorry about him," he sighs, "he's a new brother. They're finally off probation and can drink again. He's enjoying it too much. Don't worry, though. He's on cleanup duty in the morning, if it makes you feel any better."

"It doesn't," Britt laughs as she hugs the blonde, "but thanks, anyway, Luke. Have you seen Ash?"

"Should be near the stage. He's keeping an eye on things from up there," Luke informs the two of you before he waves you forward. "Enjoy the party!"

The moment you step inside the Sigma Chi ballroom, you feel slightly disoriented. There are strobe lights in every corner, a smoke machine near each door, and a makeshift stage crowded with brothers dressed in all white holding buckets and water guns filled with paint. There are people packed against the stage, reveling in the paint dripping on them and enjoying the chaos, and others hugging the walls, enjoying the party without getting messy. Blacklight illuminates the dripping paint covering faces and bodies but you can't seem to focus on any one thing as the music thumps in your ears.
