"A D-?" y/n muttered to herself, her face a dark red as tears threatened to spill over. She had never gotten a grade that low on anything, especially in English, glancing up to catch the back of Ashton as he headed back towards the front of the classroom.

She had thought having her best friend as the student teacher of her class for the second half of the year would be fun, especially when it came as a shock, Ashton not even bothering to warn her about the opportunity before being assigned to her English class. But, now, a month into the project, y/n was wishing he would go fuck himself up the ass and go back to finish his year and a half at uni without contact anytime soon.

The bell rang signaling the end of the last period of the day, at first praising the lord for it being the day before a long weekend, but, suddenly, wishing it wasn't. She'd be stressing about this grade all weekend, now, knowing it could have a severe impact on her grade if he decided that this would be the last report before the final. She had yet to move from her seat, waiting until every other student had left the room, the act not going unnoticed by Ashton as he started to pack his bag knowing he could leave as soon as he wanted, not having to stay since it was Friday.

"What is it, y/n?" he asked using her first name since the two of them were alone. He slipped a few stacks of papers into a drawer in his desk, the tests needing to be passed out first thing Tuesday morning, having been graded the night before.

"What the fuck is this shit, Ashton?" she questioned, not trusting herself to stand from the table, her legs shaking as she tried to keep it together. "A D minus, really? It was three pages longer than it needed to be!"

"But it lacked depth, y/n.You didn't even seem to grasp any understanding for the main character. I don't appreciate you handing things in that you did the night before," he said, a frown evident on his face as she let her jaw drop in awe. She had known him for seven years, the boy living right next door to her. He, of all people, should know she would never even think of leaving a paper that was worth thirty percent of her grade for last minute. Hell, he even teased her sometimes for being the 'only person in the school' to start a project the day it was assigned.

"I started it two weeks ago, thank you very much. And, it wouldn't have been so difficult if you would have fucking helped and explained what was going on. I mean, I did fucking tell you I didn't understand the goddamn book!"

"Watching your language, y/n. I can still give you a Friday detention," he said closing his bag, arms now crossed over his chest. "And it wouldn't exactly be appropriate for me to have a one on one session with you. I'm your teacher, not your friend."

"I wasn't asking for a fucking one on one, Irwin. And, you're right. You've clearly demonstrated that we, indeed, are not friends, Mister Irwin. I've got it. Fuck you too," she said standing up, ripping her report in half as she walked up to the desk ready to throw her paper into the waste basket next to his desk.
