Chapter 17 - Open Skies Part 9

10:45 p.m. Garage. "It can't be." I said as I hung up. "Is it the girl that you broke up with?" Ellie asked. "Yeah, I think we're falling into a trap. We gotta focus on the car heist first. My mom said she got a few locations on where they are. We need plans first." I answered. Minutes later. "Adena has identified two of the Collector's cars likely to have killswitch tech. We'll have to decide which one we want to boost. They're both gold plated monstrosities. First one is a Mercedes G63. He's moved it to a demon lords casino downtown for Fortune Valley Day. Getting it down is not gonna be easy." Dominic said. "And the second target?" I asked. "The Collector's flying the second one out to Japan tomorrow. It'll be on display near the Ryft VIP Terminal." Dominic answered. "He's gonna have that place sewn up." Adena replied. "So, which one do we grab?" I asked. "We want to piss off the Collector, right? I say we grab them both!" Jordan answered. "Alright, Jordan. Let's give it a shot." I replied. "Jordan, go with Adena and get that Mercedes. She'll take Branden and then he'll get the car." Dominic said. We all nodded and got in our cars. Dom and I got in the Mac attack. "Letty I'm gonna borrow your car if you don't mind." Adena said as she and Jordan got in Letty's 911 Carrera S 991. "Sure, but DON'T wreck it." Letty replied. Minutes later. "The fireworks for Fortune Valley Day will start at some point but we gotta not miss it, it'll have to give us the distraction we need." Adena said. "Remind me. Why is Branden the one driving the Mac Attack?" Jordan asked. "Well you wanted to drive the G63, right? It's either that or the truck." I answered. "Yeah, Yeah. I know. Branden, if you hurt my truck. I swear." Jordan replied. "Your baby? I've seen you T-bone wrecks for fun with that thing!" I asked. "That's different!" Jordan answered. "Uh, Ms.Lee. The fireworks started." Jordan said as he saw the fireworks from a distance. "What?! Already?! Damn it Jordan! You said there'd be plenty of time! This is the LAST time I let you plan a job." Adena replied. "Couldn't count on traffic, Ms.Lee. Now step on it!" Jordan said. "Mom? You're on!" I asked. "Jordan, hang on to something! This is about to get risky!" Adena suggested as she approached the jump and the car went airborne. She did a 180 spin. "WHOOOOO YEAHHH!!!" Jordan exclaimed. "Jordan! Go!" Adena replied as she drove off and Jordan got out of the car. "I'm breaking you out, girl!" Jordan said as he ran to the Mercedes G63 and got in. "Your magic worked, Dom! I'm getting this baby out of here! Got the car! And she is WILD! Dom, you'd better be ready!" Jordan exclaimed. "Ready and waiting. Better hurry. That thing's gonna attract a LOT of attention." Dominic replied. "Man, I am DIGGING the bling! I'll take this thing over the Regera any day. I'm gonna scrape off the gold and plate the Mac Attack with it." Jordan said. "Not in my garage you're not. I run a classy joint." Dominic replied. "Jordan? I'm with my mom. We're heading into the Ryft VIP Terminal now." I said. "Uuuh... Guys?! Something fishy's going on." Jordan wondered as he heard something beeping under his car. "What kind of fishy?" Adena asked. "The "Something just started beeping under my car." kind of fishy." Jordan answered. "Collector must have a tracker on it." Dominic replied. "I'll see if I can shake it off. No luck, still there." Jordan said as he floored it to a jump. "Don't be reckless Jordan. Just get to me. I'll take it off." Dominic replied. "I got time... one more try. Damnit. No go." Jordan said. "Jordan? We're on your schedule, remember?" Adena asked. "Damnit! Thought I had that time!" Jordan answered as he landed from the jump. "Get your ass over here. We'll figure it out." Dominic replied. "Dom. I'm coming in hot!" Jordan said as he stopped by the Mac Attack. "Lee's crew has taken the bait." Mackenzie said. "Good, end it. We're onto their base as well." Josh replied. Garage. An alarm broke out in Letty's room. "Something happening?" Letty wondered as she went to her security camera computer. "Shit, we've got Demon Lords company." Letty said as she closed her computer and ran downstairs to the lounge. "Guys, we've got company." Letty said. "What? We do?" Jovanna asked as she and the others got into their positions. Ellie equipped her recon visor that looks alike to Widowmaker's infra sight. "You have that along?" Gillian asked. "That's just to see if the enemy is coming near us. They're coming to the garage door. Where are you guys at? Gillian and I are at the kitchen but we see them coming towards us from outside when we're inside." Ellie answered as she called. "We're on the second floor." Letty answered. "Once they get in, we start the assault. Here they come." Gillian replied as she and Ellie got behind the walls on the left and right to cover before ambushing them. "We know you're in there Letty! Show yourself!" The Demon Lords Lieutenant exclaimed. "Locked on." Cordelia said as she pulled the trigger and shot one of the henchmen from the second floor. "Who's there?! We know you're there!" A trooper exclaimed. "Crap, they're coming from the back. Gillian put the bear trap there." Ellie said. Gillian took out a bear trap from the couch and placed it near the back door by the kitchen. "We have no choice!!" Griffin exclaimed as he and the guys shot the front doors. Ellie popped out of the cover spot and shot one of the troopers. "Ellie, watch ahead of us! I'll take care of the back flank!" Gillian exclaimed as she saw the trooper coming into the door and when he opened it and got in. He stepped onto the bear trap and got stuck. Gillian pulled the trigger and shot the trooper. Ellie shot the troopers and took cover at the same time. She crouched out of the cover spot and threw a sticky bomb onto their cars. "Crap, more of them are coming! We need assistance!" Ellie called. "One of you guys need to get down to the first floor to help Ellie and Gillian, we'll take care of the rest!" Letty commanded as she saw more of the cars coming into the garage. "I'll help them!" Jovanna replied as she ran downstairs to the first floor. "Target acquired, prepare to fire." Cordelia said as she fired the rocket launcher onto the incoming cars and they exploded. Meanwhile. Ryft Terminal. "Branden and I are onto the second car." Adena said as she did a donut spin around the Aventador and came to stop. I got out of the car and ran to the Aventador. "Hello, beautiful." I said as I got in and closed the doors. "I got the car and half of the city's cops are on my tail." I said. "You know the plan. Skirt the city and head south." Adena replied. "Loaded the Mercedes into the trailer. Dom's checking out the tracker now." Jordan said. "It's not a tracker, Jordan. It's a bomb." Dominic replied. "A... A BOMB?!" Jordan asked. "I told you not to be reckless." Dominic answered. "GODDAMN!" Jordan replied. "Dom? Mine just started beeping too. What should I do?" I asked. "Get over here, I'll deal with it." Dominic answered. "Meet you guys there, soon as I can shake off the 5-0! I hope it can take a few bumps and hits." I replied as I took the jump and went airborne, then landed. "Holy shit, this is so insane! Off-roading in a Aventador!" I said. "I know some guys who would be devastated to hear that." Dominic replied. "Dom? How sure are you you can disable those bombs?" Adena asked. "Eighty percent." Dominic answered. "I was really hoping for closer to one hundred." Jordan replied. "Best I can offer." Dominic said. "Jesus Christ, they got a lot of roadblocks coming up." I replied. "Don't worry, Lee. There won't be a problem soon." Jordan said. "Jordan...?" I asked. "Oh you'll see." Jordan answered. "Jordan..?" I asked as I drifted into the corner. Jordan charges onto the rhino suvs and they went crashing when I dodged one. "The Mac Attack 2: Jordan strikes back!" Jordan answered. "Holy shit! Thanks dude!" I replied as I took the jump that leads to the trailer. "Lee's on board! Jordan, get us out of town. Branden and I will handle the bombs." Dominic said. "We're on it. Mom, where are you?" I asked. "Running interference. Dom, you sure you can disable those bombs?" Adena asked. "Guys, let Dom work!" Jordan answered as he took the turn while Dominic and I were working on the bombs. "Jordan, we're trying to disarm a bomb back here! Maybe it's the yellow one. Yeah and, Jordan? Try to keep her steady will you?" Dominic asked. "I'm doing what I can!" Jordan answered. "I picked a hell of a time to finally come back out for a job." Dominic replied. "So. Remember when you said to keep it steady?" Jordan asked. "How big's the jump?" Dominic asked. "Just.. Hold on to something." Jordan answered as he approached the jump. Dominic and I screamed as we were in the truck flying then Adena was at the tunnel point but she dodged the flying Mac Attack. "You guys okay!?" Adena asked. "We're disarming two bombs in the back of a jumping truck. What do you think?" I asked. "Why did I come on this job? WHY?! Come with us, Dom! It'll be fun!" Dom asked. My phone started ringing. It was Ms.Disantos and I took it out and answered. "Hello! We're in the middle of disabling a couple bombs, what's going on the outside?! What?! You guys are under attack by Demon Lords troopers?!" I asked while I was disabling the bombs. "I'll take on as many cops as I can, buy you some time. Stay out of trouble." Adena answered. " "Stay out of trouble." she says, driving away from a truck full of bombs." Dominic replied. "Uh guys, massive roadblocks ahead. Looks like the end of the road for me." Adena said as she saw a lot of roadblocks. "Keep driving, I'll be right there!" Jordan replied. At the garage. "Damn! How many troopers they got in this army?!" Jovanna asked. "We got a lot of them coming at us!!!" Cordelia answered as she pulled the trigger and shot one of the incoming soldiers. "Jovanna, go downstairs and help Ellie and Gillian! Your sister and I will take care of the rest!!" Letty replied. Jovanna ran downstairs to help the others. "You guys oka- Whoa!!" Jovanna asked as she took cover by the wall when the bullet almost got to her but then she shot the trooper. "We're on the middle of fighting troopers from the bottom! What do you think we are doing?!" Ellie asked as she shot one of the troopers with her pistol and took cover. "Uh Letty, we got a chopper incoming!" Cordelia exclaimed as she saw a chopper flying by the base to shoot them down. "Get down!!!" Letty replied as she and Cordelia took cover. "Kill the pilot! I think that's the only way we can take it down! I'll distract him and you take the shot!" Letty said as she got out of cover and distracted the pilot while he was still aiming at her when she took cover multiple times. "Got it!" Cordelia replied as she pulled the trigger from the sniper rifle and shot the pilot. The helicopter was going down and crashed into the agent cars. "I think we're clear. We'll check the corridors. We'll check the other areas. Gillian, check the garage." Ellie said as she and Jovanna went to check the kitchen. Gillian went to the garage to check the corridor. When they were checking out the kitchen. "Ellie, behind you!" Jovanna exclaimed as she saw Griffin running up to Ellie and tackles her. He took out his knife. "You want to bleed, girl!" Griffin exclaimed as he was attempting to stab Ellie with the knife but the she was trying to push him back to not get stabbed. "Jovanna, do something!" Ellie said as she threw Jovanna her pistol while trying to push him from stabbing her. She grabbed the gun and aimed at Griffin then pulled the trigger when taking the shot on the head. Ellie shot him and pushed Griffin away and got back up. "Looks like we're clear here. Ms.Disantos, we're clear. How's it going on your area?" Ellie asked. "We're clear as well. I'll call the others to let them we're gonna move out to a different base. I know one that Zandara provided us with at the city and I have a few friends of mine that will guard the base. Meet outside so we can rendezvous, we're coming out right now." Letty answered as she and Cordelia ran downstairs to outside. Ellie, Jovanna and Jovanna ran outside from the kitchen. "Okay, let's cool off. Once the others escape. I'll let them know we're moving out to a different base at the city. There's a mansion we can use for our hideout and garage." Letty said. The Barrio. Jordan rammed the roadblocks. "Boom!! Woooo!" Jordan exclaimed. "Holy damn, I owe you one Jordan. Thanks!" Adena replied. "I already got a favor. Take some cops out for me." Jordan said. "With pleasure. You guys get off town and if you can't shake the bombs, ditch the cars." Adena replied. "We got this, Ms.Lee." Jordan said as he floored it and rammed the roadblocks. "So, good news, bad news." Dominic replied. "How bad's the bad news?" Jordan asked. "I can't disable the bombs." Dominic answered. "Guys? DITCH. THE. CARS!" Adena asked. "But... I can remove them." Dominic answered. "How confident are- you know what..? Don't answer." Jordan replied. I was carefully trying to remove the bombs. "Easy... Eeeeeeeasy..." Dominic said. "There! I got it." I replied. "You got the bombs off?" Jordan asked. "Yep!" Dominic answered as he and I kicked the door of the back of the rig open. "Watch this! I've done baseball throwing before." I said as Dominic and I threw the bombs at the bridge spot. "Hey Jordan, you might feel a little tail wind." I said. "Uh oh." Jordan replied as he felt an explosion behind him and the bridge fell down and collapsed. "Mac? Cop problems taken care of." I asked. Minutes later. Garage. "Hey, look. They're here." Jovanna said as she saw the Mac Attack approaching. "Are those unknown cars? I guess there was an attack here I guess." Jordan wondered in his mind as he stopped the truck. "Thank goodness you guys are here. We're moving out to a different base in the city." Letty said. "Hey, we got the ca- woah. How many corpses are in the building?" I asked as I saw dead bodies outside. "There are a lot of them but we're clear in the area. We just have to move to somewhere safe where no one will notice us. Dom, get to work on those cars. After the morning, we pack our things and move out. Where is your mother Branden?" Letty asked. "She'll be here in a few. Told me she just escaped from the cops. So I guess we'll see what's under the cars and then we move out." I answered. The next morning. "So Dom? How are those killswitches looking?" I asked. "The G-Wagon has a killswitch alright. The Lambo has... something else. A self-driving system, I'm talking artificial intelligence, or the next closest thing. The parts share design elements with the Koenigsegg tech, as well. Haven't seen anything like it outside the old defense lab." Dominic answered. "What about the killswitch? Can you do anything with it?" I asked. "That's the good news, I should be able to build a countermeasure." Dominic answered. "Great. Hope we can get it in time for the rush, but let me pack my things up so we can bring it to that new base. Wanna help me out?" I asked as I went inside the garage. "Sure thing, man." Dominic answered as he and I went to my room to grab my things. After a few minutes of packing, we walked outside and placed the belongings in the trunk of my car. "Before I go Dom, let me say goodbye to this place." I said as I went back inside the garage to look at the place one last time. "Well garage, I'm sorry we have to move like this. I guess this is goodbye. I may never see you ever again." I said as I went back outside crying with tears because I miss the garage at the airfield. "Hey I know how you feel bro. I miss this place as well. But don't worry, we're in a new home now so we can be safe from the Demon Lords. You'll see what the new place is in town. I'll meet you there, Lee." Dominic replied as he gave me a hug and he went to his car. I got in my car as well. "Ms.Lee? Dom's kidding about the robot cars. right?!" Jordan asked. "Don't think he is." Adena answered. "Damn!" Jordan replied. "Maybe it's time to revoke your "no cheating" policy, Lee?" Letty asked. "Nuh huh. Don't care what they throw at us. That's now how this team plays it." I answered. Then my phone was ringing and I answered. "This is Branden speaking." I called. "Branden. Your odds have been improving dramatically. Good thing I locked my bet a while ago. Only three leagues left for the Rush, but they're gonna be tough to crack. Meet me." The gambler  called. "Look I'm kinda busy." I replied. "No you're not. See you soon." The gambler said. Minutes later. "Branden, you really kicked the hornet's nest. The Demon Lords is scrambling like mad. They're so riled up - they won't see my next move coming. And you know what you do when your opponent starts to show a tell, right? You raise them until they fold." The gambler said. "Time to take on the Demon Lord leagues." I replied. "You got that right. Only three left standing in your way. One Percent Club, Diamond Block and Hazard Company. Expect a tough fight, though. Nova's got them wrapped around her little finger." The gambler said. "Nothing we can't handle." I suggested. "Hope so. Almost at the Outlaw's Rush, Branden! Keep it up!" The gambler replied as he drove away. "Hello. Yeah i have everything you dealt with. In the city?" I asked. Minutes later. Lakeside. Yuri's home. "Who is it?!" Yuri asked. "It's you know who." I answered. "Come on in, I haven't seen you in a while." Yuri replied as she opened the door for me and I came in. "Yeah but what do you want from me? What is it?" I asked. "It's okay Branden, don't worry about it. It's better if you stay silent and let me take care of you." Yuri answered as she moved closer to me. "Excuse me?" I asked. "Don't be scared Branden! Try this tea, I put some extra flavor in it." Yuri answered. "Uh no thanks, I'm not taking that." I replied. Yuri punched me hard on the head from behind as I got knocked out and fell down to the ground. She carried my body in my car and drove to the hotel. Then Yuri parked at the parking lot and carried my body when I was knocked out. Minutes later. She grabbed a rope and tied me up to a chair. After I got knocked out, I opened my eyes and woke up. "What the? Where am I?" I wondered as I tried to move but I noticed I'm tied up and I couldn't move. "You're in a hotel Mr.Lee." Yuri answered. "YURI! You tied me up?!" I asked. "I'm sorry, don't ask that again okay? The answer's always going to be no." Yuri answered. "You still don't trust me?" I asked. "I've seen it before. I love you so much Branden!" Yuri answered. "Honestly I have another girlfriend I love more but do I have to love both?" I asked. "No. Only me." Yuri answered. "But she wou-." I stuttered. "ONLY ME!" Yuri replied. "Damn it, I've gotta call Ellie! Help me!" I exclaimed in my mind. Yuri takes the tape and puts a piece of it in my mouth. "Mmmnnnhhh!" I exclaimed. "Stay calm sweetheart! You don't need to worry about your precious Ellie. I'll take care of her!" Yuri replied. I got hit and I wake up on Yuri's bed after a few minutes. Meanwhile. Lakeside. Mansion. "Hey, have you guys seen Branden?" Karina asked. "No I haven't." Zandara answered. "I haven't seen him since last night. Where could he be?" Adena asked. "Wait a minute, let me try calling him to see if you will answer." Letty answered as she took out her phone and called me on my cellphone. It was ringing but I couldn't grab it because I was tied up to the bed. "Damn it, he's not answering. What could've happened to him?" Letty asked. "I don't know, something bad must've happened to him. It might be a trap he has fell in." Adena answered.
