My name is Celestial Rivers. I am nothing, if not boring. But I'd soon come to find out I'm nothing if not extraordinary. I mean a lot to this world (along with eight others) and I didn't even know it. But we'll get to that later.

I am 22 years old, trying to make a living in New York City. I work as an editor at a newspaper and it pays pretty good. But I still live in a tiny apartment right above a Chinese restaurant. It's where my father used to live, and after his passing a week ago, I couldn't let it go.

This night was special. It would show me just how extraordinary I really am.

I left work early, not feeling the greatest. It had been a week since my father's passing but I was still severely depressed. Nothing felt right, everything was wrong in the world.

When I made it home, after being yelled at by the Chinese restaurant owner, I entered my apartment and almost had a heart attack. My best friend Ariel was sitting on my couch with the news on.

"How do you keep getting in here? Didn't you lose your key?" I asked, after the shock subsided.

"I always have a Bobby pin on hand. But I didn't need it. Old man Chang let me in."

"Jesus Christ, I wish he wouldn't just let people into my apartment."

"People? Chill, Cel. It's just me. He only let me in because he knows who I am."

"Still not very thrilled."

I plopped down on the couch next to her. A reporter was standing in Times Square, destruction all around her.

"What's happened now?" I asked Ariel.

"I'm not sure. But the Avengers are there."

I rolled my eyes. "You're obsessed with them."

"Hey, it isn't my fault that, like, all of them are hot."

"Oh? So it isn't even the fact that they, I don't know, save our lives every other day?"

"Hey, you're just mad because Thor wouldn't think you're hot."

"You're an ass, you know that?"

"You know I'm kidding. None of them would be very infatuated with either of us. Know why?"

I raised an eyebrow.

"Cuz we're too hot for them," she whispered.

"Oh shut up," I laughed.

"Hey, lets go check it out."

"Ariel, no. Are you nuts?"

"They're in action right now. Come on, Celestial. Do something risky for once in your life."

I bit my lip and watched as the camera got a shot of Iron Man flying through the buildings and blasting something.

"Okay, fine. But only for a bit. The minute something comes flying at my head, I'm out."

She grinned. "Let's go for a ride."

I shouldn't have gotten in her car. But then again, if I hadn't, I wouldn't be where I am today.

So we came upon the Times Square destruction where I nearly had my head taken clean off by Thor's hammer. I screamed and ducked, holding my head in fear that it really had come off.

"Um...Cel? I think Thor is staring at you."

I looked up at Ariel then towards Thor, who was indeed staring at me. But I was still shaking from nearly having my head taken off my shoulders.
