Forget. To forget things causes many scenarios and emotions. Sometimes it's good to forget things, such as past traumas. Sometimes it's just small things, like something you planned on doing or The name of your pet goldfish, but you remember eventually. Other times, forgetting can be quite hurtful.
Having someone you love slowly forget you and the things they used to love, more and more each passing day can be shattering. The reason is usually out of anyone's control, whether it's old age or an illness that is causing the misplacement of events. Maybe that's what hurts most of all. No matter how many times you remind them of their name, they will forget.
Surely getting them to keep a journal would help, but what do you do when they forget how to read and write? What do you do when they forget how to speak properly? It feels like you're attempting to communicate with a doll. It's nearly impossible.
Despite everything, you still want to be there for them. No matter how many times they forget who you are, no matter how frustrating it is to say the same things, again and again, every day. You always stay by their side, every day, always reminding them. Doesn't make it any less shitty though. It makes your experiences with them harder and harder, sometimes it's surprising you even bother to stay. But no one deserves to die alone, right? Even if they look at you and everyone else as a stranger they don't want around, without you or anyone else they are alone. You know they've told you many times, they are grateful. Grateful that you come every day, even when it pains you. At the end of the day, you find them in your arms. You can't help but feel tears when you're reminded that it's all going to restart in the morning, possibly losing them even more than the last time.
Note: This is very short, however, I did discover three short stories (this being one of them) within a google doc I never posted. So I'll post the other two within the next two days.
Also if you couldn't tell this is from Hinata's perspective.
Happy Easter to those who celebrate it, and everyone else a great day.
