I spent all day yesterday at school wanting to text Edward just to talk to him and ask him why he is the way he is but I tell myself not to. I wonder if he has my number? Maybe I'll give it to him today at work.

I see Edward before I see Alex. He's sitting at a table entrance level floor reading. When he sees me he closes his book and approaches me.

"How are you?" He asks with a smile.

"Good. You?" I ask nervously.

"Fine." He states, running a hand through his hair.

"Did you ever get my number?" I question.

"No. I expected you to text me but you didn't." He looks at me and then the desk where Alex isn't.

"Okay. Here, I'll do it now." I say and text him hey and his phone off. He looks at it and nods, looking back over at the desk and I wonder what he's looking for. "Do you need Alex?" I ask and he shoots a look at me.

"Yeah were in the middle of-" he cuts himself off and I nod, disappointed. They were probably talking about going on a date. I sinking feeling fills me and I begin to go downstairs to get away from him. He keeps sending me mixed signals, if they're even signals at all. I shouldn't read into them.

After an hour he comes down to the bottom floor and is smiling.

"What?" I ask.

"Alex asked me to come get you." He explains and I nod, following him upstairs. I see Alex standing on the other side of the desk and approach her.

"Guess who just got a shop here?" She asks with the same grin as Edward. I look at her confused still. "Your boy Edward."
What?

"Why?" I ask, looking at him.

"I figured I was here anyways and your job seems easy enough." He shrugs.

"What floor?" I ask, folding my arms across my chest.

"Yours." He smirks and I sink.

"I don't need someone else down there. We're slow enough as it is." I protest.

"On Saturday's you're busy. So I figured I'd help out." He shrugs.

"So that's why you needed Alex? You were doing an interview?" I ask, feeling relieved. He nods in response.

"Anyways, I figured you have enough experience to just show him around cause I don't want to. And when you're done show him out to use the computers. Cool?" She asks and I nod.

I begin the tour starting downstairs but he tells me he already knows the library more than I do.

"I doubt it. I grew up here." I tell him.

"Me too." He shrugs.

"Really?" I ask, acknowledging his British accent more.

"You think because I'm a Brit I couldn't live here?" He questions.

"Well," I shrug.

"I came here when I was in grade 7." He explains. "I found this place a couple years ago. Not a lot of people like to read but I find it better than real life."

"That's what I say." I tell him.

"Well, looks like we have more in common than I thought." He smiles.

"Not Everything, I'm not a rude guy."

"Rude guy? What too afraid to say asshole?" He laughs.

"We're at work Edward." I snap and he shrugs.
