Sleeping stars

They say the sky's the limit,
But also keep your head out of the clouds.

They say reach for the stars,
But they tell you to hide your scars.

They tell us to be ourselves,
But bring us down to elevate themselves.

Why are they so confusing,
They tell me to love myself,
But bring me down when I show who I am.

They said they loved me,
But only for the things I can do for them.

They always want me to listen when they speak,
But never to listen to me when I feel weak.

This may seem normal.
We often mistake their abuse,
for love, for kindness,for trust.

They ask why would we commit suicide,
But can we live this life.

The only way we will feel satisfied,
Is if they changed their mind.

But we too are like you,
Save us before we go through.
