Shackled

Waking up on a cold hard floor,
I felt completely sore.
My eyes wonder this strange room,
Its so dark and filled with gloom.
It seems to be a hall,
But that's not all.

A fading light at the end,
My knees wobbled,
My hands were heavy,
Blood reeked ,
I got up unsteady on my feet.

Clinging to the wall,
Knowing without support I would fall.
I limped towards the light,
But it's fading out of sight.

My lips quivered,
My body shivered,
I began to panic,
My breathing was erratic.
Why am I here alone,
Where is my home,
I feel so lost,
What did I do to pay such a cost,
Someone help , please help.

Anyone.......

Please....

Silence responded,
The walls crumbled,
The light was gone,
I began to run.

Caught by something I fell,
I felt it on my hands, but it was so dark what could I tell.
But I could feel the metal cuffs,

I got up and heard the chain,
My heart felt completely in pain.
I realized what was holding me back,
I was trapped.
I screamed from my chest,
I was shackled to the darkness.
