His name was Death

In the middle of the night
he was knocking at my door,
But who is it
and what did they come for?

I opened the door and there stood a man,
he was tall and tan.
I asked him his name and he said death,
trust me, don't hold your breath.
I trembled with fear
as I stood there.

I stumbled my words, but what could I say,
My heart was still beating but I was too afraid.
He said "Take your time,
you have nothing to hide,
I know everything,
And every sin"

"You cannot hide,
The monster inside.
For my name is death,
So don't hold your breath".
