I looked around me and saw none other than Felix, standing just some meters away from me. His eyes had a tint of red for some reasons, maybe car lights reflecting on them I believe. He walked to me and looked into my eyes. I was still silently crying. He wiped my tears with his thumbs and hugged me for comfort.
"Are you okay?" He asked calmly.
I couldn't talk. I was still in shock so I just nodded.
"It's all good now, you're safe" He said stroking my back.
I was shocked by his attitude. It was the complete opposite of how he acts usually.
"Do you live far away from here?"
"N-no... I live... just a few... houses from here.." I said between sobs.
"I'll walk you home" He said crouching in front of me, his back facing me.
He signaled me to get on his back so he could carry me. I didn't say anything and did what he wanted me to do. He started walking and I lay my head on his back, closing my eyes to calm myself.
"Why were you coming back home this late? Class ended early today"
"I was just chilling at the park" I said feeling a little bit more calm than earlier.
"You know it's dangerous for a woman to walk alone at night"
"I know but since the park is like 5 minutes away from my house, I wasn't thinking I could be attacked on my way home"
"You'll never know. Be careful next time, if I hadn't been around when you were attacked who knows what he would've done to you" He said worried.
"I know, I was stupid..." I said sighing. "And you, what were you doing here this late?"
"I was ... on my way to buy some snacks. I heard screams so I ran to where they came and found you"
"Oh okay"
I showed him my house and he asked me my keys to open the door. He went in and put me on the couch. He walked to the kitchen and came back with a glass of water which he handed me.
"Thank you, I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't been there to help me" I said drinking a bit of water.
"You're welcome, I was not going to let you there without helping you, it would've been really selfish"
"Thank you anyways, I really appreciate your help, I owe you a lot"
"Don't worry you don't owe me anything" He smiled at me.
I think this was the first time I saw him genuinely smiling. An awkward silence settled between us for a moment. I was looking down, too shy to look at him, until he started talking again.
"I should leave now, it's already late" He said looking at the clock behind me.
I just nodded and he started walking toward the door. He stopped in the middle of his track and faced me again.
"Can I get your phone" He asked calmly as he walked closer to me.
I gave it to him without questioning and he tapped something in it, his number I believe.
"Call me if you ever need anything, I'll be there quickly, I live a few blocks from here"
He gave me my phone back and walked again to the door. I followed close behind him to lock the door after him.
