Jack pov
Why does Nina always have to scare me like this. First it was the sleeping pills, then the forest fire, and now the crash. When will it end?
Probably never.
I squeezed her hand as the elevator lowered to the basement.
"We're gonna have to take her into surgery, some of the ligaments and tendons are severed in her knee and her ankle. Her hip looks fine though." Jean said bringing her into a large operating room. Annie was there. Logan sat in a corner, and said, "Hey Oklahoma, I'll get Matt to help you clean out your ride."
Lucas nodded, and went back upstairs. Storm, who was assisting Jean and Annie, looked at me with her grey eyes. "I don't know if you want to be here for this..."
"I'm not leaving. You can't make me." She nodded. Logan kicked over a plastic chair, and I sat by her side, still clutching her hand. Her head moved a bit. "Jack? R'you here?" She blinked at me, the harsh lights blinding her.
"Yeah I'm right here. Jean's gonna do some surgery to your leg and she's gonna have to put you under. Ok?"
She nodded slightly. "Just don't leave me. Promise."
"I promise I won't. Never."
Annie stuck the needle in her arm, tears glistening on her cheeks.
They made long incisions on her knee and ankle, putting the bones back into place, and then reattaching the severed tissues, which was easy, because if you hold both ends together, then they fuse right back like there suppose to. After about an hour on her knee, they let it fuse back together. And soon there was no trace that it was ever there. The ankle was just as easy, but the little bones took longer to replace. So all in all, in maybe three hours, Nina was no longer injured but still in the recovery part of the clinic. And I never let go of her hand.
Nina pov.
I woke up the next morning with my hands strapped to a hospital bed. It's the first day of training, and I'm tied to a bed. Jack was dozing off next to me in a hard plastic chair, gripping my right hand. I nudged him a bit, and he awoke, eyes wide open. "Wha.... Nina! Your awake!" He kissed me.
"We were all so worried about you!"
I can imagine. "Can you untie my hands please? " I asked, my voice weak. He did. I looked down at my leg, and smiled when I saw nothing. Nothing but my leg. I tried moving it.
"Jean said it would be sore for a couple days, and that you should try to stay off it." The door to my room opened and people came crowding in, like the flood gates had opened.
A few of them had get well soon cards and Annie had a small bear. They all one by one came over and hugged me. I thanked them all for visiting. And soon only a few were left. Dad said that he'd come in to check on me later and he took all the advanced students out with him. Annie said that she would bring me down some food, and rushed off to get it. Last was Lucas and Lyrica.
Lyrica was on me like a magnet, saying how she was so happy I was ok, and that she had been practicing a bit, and wanted to show me something. After she left it was just Lucas me and Jack.
"Thank you, if it wasn't for you I would still be in the rain."
I said. He shrugged. "Dont mention it." I waved him over and gave him a hug. "Thank you." I let him go, Jack got up and gave him one of those guy hugs, and he said thanks too. Then it was just us. I leaned over and kissed Jack again. "Go on, dont be late for training." I said.
"Don't worry, Logan'll understand. At least until Annie gets back. I kissed him again. "Fine."
Annie came in with a plate loaded with everything a pastry chef could dream of. Jack before leaving asked, "Annie could you take out these stitches real quick?" Jack said pulling up his sleeve.
