Nina pov

Over the next two weeks, we all healed nicely. Everyone was up and around, but Lucas. He was allowed in a wheelchair only. His sister wheeled him around, and he took desk learning instead of out in the field. Three days ago (June 6) everyone went out for summer break. Lucas and Lyrica took a flight home, Matt and Annie went on vacation to the west coast, and Jack and I, boringly stayed here. We could've gone somewhere but my dad had me strictly confined to the premises until he figured out what these headaches are.

So here I am, trapped in Jack's room, ready to bang my head against the wall. Jack was

I was sprawled out on the floor, face up, watching the celling fan spin slowly. When I got bored or that, I sat up and laid on his bed, doing the same thing. Then I practiced handstands, jumped on his bed. I even stuck my head out the window. When an alarm didn't go off, and I didn't get shot in the head, I wrote a quick note and climbed onto the roof, and laid there in the sun, one arm draped above my eyes, and continued my very long nap.

Jack pov.

When I came back from the weight room after practicing with Matt, I unlocked my door but found my room empty. There was a sticky note stuck to the window. I peeled it off and read: up on roof, don't freak out. Nina.

I opened the window and stuck my head out and looked up. I could just see the tips of her toes. "Nina get back in here before Logan sees you up the-" I was cut off by a bang on my door. I stuck my head back into the room, and Nina was in within 15 seconds. Logan was on the other side. "I need to talk to Nina."

That was a good enough reason for me, so I stepped aside. Nina was laying on my bed with her feet against the wall. There was a hint of pain as she said, "Yes?"

I closed the door and stood by the window. Logan glanced at me, but then faced his daughter. "I was invited to help train a group of rangers at that base in Texas."

Nina's eyes brightened and she flipped around and sat up. "Wow! Like actual ranger people?! That's like even more intense training than what I have," she glanced at me for a second before moving back to Logan. "Don't they have like military level stuff? Without the acrobatics, and with more war like stuff?Does-" she was cut off by a raised hand from Logan. "Calm yourself. It's only an offer. I just wanted to discuss what the plan would be if I took the offer." She nodded. Logan looked over at me and motioned towards the bed. "This involves you too, sit down." I obeyed cause there's not much else I could do. I sat next to Nina.

"They said, that it would be for the rest of the summer, starting next week-"

Nina interrupted again. "Wait the whole summer! But-"

"These are the three options the both of you have. You could stay here the rest of the summer. You could come with me-"

"Omg that sounds awesome!"

"Or your third choice is, that you two could go to Canada for a few weeks."

I honestly don't know how to feel about not having an opinion on even if I want to do any of this, but that's fine. I would spend my whole summer with Nina anyway.

"Nina think it over, Jack come with me."

I followed him out into the hall, and he closed the door. "Listen, you have a choice if you don't want to do this, but if she picks the second one, I want you to come. I can't watch her while everyone else trains, or she could train with them, have a headache, and I will have no time to handle it. So no matter what she picks I want you at her side wherever she goes." He said firmly. I nod. I understand what he's saying, he wants Nina to be protected. I can handle that.
