Nina pov

When I woke from my drug induced sleep, Jack was already dressed and ready to go. Where you ask? No clue. "Why would you drug my sandwich?" I asked, putting on a shoe. "You looked like you needed it." Was all he said as he prompted me to hurry up, when I was going as fast as my body would allow me. When I landed from my jump down the stairs, and ran into the kitchen ahead of Jack, I almost ran into dad. He had just finished reading the paper, and was putting his plate in the sink. "Whoa, slow down kid, your gonna run someone over."
Unexpectedly, I gave him a hug. He was surprised of course. I went past him and grabbed a muffin, threw one at Jack over my shoulder, and looked out the window. The sun was just about to rise, the tip peaking over the ground. When I turned back to Jack, it looked like he and dad exchanged unsaid words, before dad went off to who knows where. I walked up to Jack. "So where are we going?" He nodded to the door and I followed. "It is a surprise." He finally said when we reached the garage. I didn't know what to think. A good surprise or a bad one? He went over to one of dad's old bikes. He rolled it out in front of us. "You know we could always use my-" he stopped me. "Nope, I am driving, and Logan said I could have this." He put on his helmet. I took my jacket down from its peg a few spaces down. I shrugged it on. "How far are we going?" He didn't answer. I got on behind him and held on to him. It felt weird not to be driving. At least I didn't have to do anything. We went off down the highway, the sun rising as we went.

"Where are we?" I ask when he finally stopped. We were in a field, a few good climbing trees. "We, are in a field." He said sitting. "Yeah, no duh. Why are we in a field?" He reached up and took my hand, he pulled me down, sitting me next to him. Then he asked, "Are you going to take that last test? The last medical one?"
"I'm not sure. I could, and I know it would make Annie happy if I did. I could start teaching." I got choked up a bit,and tears came to my eyes. Jack hugged me against him and wiped my eyes. "No more tears." He kissed my head and sniffed a bit. No more crying. If I started, so would Jack. The only way to avoid tuning this into a cry fest would be to not cry. I sat up straight. He asked, "so what are you going to do? If your not going to teach?" I shrugged and looked up at the sky. "Maybe I'll join the army. Not really many other options."
"Why the army?" I shrugged again. "I could always be special forces. Covert operations." I laughed. He looked seriously at me. "If that's where your going, I'm coming too." I frowned. "Your not coming with me! I can risk my life, because they can't kill me. I don't want to risk yours." He nodded. "It's just that, I don't want to lose you." He stuck his hand in a pocket. He continued. "Which brings me to why I brought you out here." I moaned and fell back in the grass. "Why are we out here? Just tell me!" I laughed. "Sit up. Come on, please. This is important." I sat up as he said to, crisscross in front of him. He took my hand. "Nina, I've known you for a long time, and I love you." Where was he going with this?
"Yeah, I love you too, fuzzy." He took his hand out of his pocket, but kept it close, on his leg. "I love you, and I don't want to spend my life without you." He looked really nervous. "Ok. You look like your going to pass out." He laughed a bit, and said, "Yeah.... In my letter from Annie, she told me to never loose you..." He paused. "I'm just going to say it."
Ok now he lost me. He stood me up, keeping his hands on mine the entire time. He got down on his knee. Oh.
He opened his hand, a small golden ring, with a diamond. "This was my mom's" Oh my gosh. Holy crap muffins. Was he seriously doing this?
"Nina, will you marry me?"
