Chapter 13

Quinn's POV

I wake up to dim lights making it easy to open my eyes. I tried to sit up and instantly felt a wave of dizziness.

I instantly laid back down but kept my eyes open.

"Oh be careful! Just lay down for a few minutes, do you want anything? Food? Water? Oh and how much do you remember?" James whispered in a cautious tone.

"Uhh okay umm I'm good but what happened? The last thing I remember was finding out we were getting bombed after coming back from the dance. Umm and mom crying and- NO!" I said my calmness turning to a scream of desperation.

I started sobbing and curled up in a ball. I felt strong hands lift me up and set me down wrapping me in a hug.

I leaned into James' chest crying and shaking. He had me wrapped in a strong hold as he traced small patterns on my back.

"Shhh it's gonna be okay, your gonna be okay" He hushed

"It's okay your mom and brothers are fine it's okay" he whispered.

We got the call that everything is safe and we walked out of the shelter. Even though it's safe no one will come in or out of the kingdom until 24-48 hours.

Mom, moms assistant and I all sat down in the meeting room.

"Okay I'm so sorry for your loss but we need to figure something out. Your majesty you don't have much more time on the throne so there's no point in finding you a fill in." She explained to my mom.

"We need to get Princess Quinn prepared to take the throne as soon as possible. It's up to you both but I think you should get homeschooled" She said looking at me.

"We can get you a great tutor, you would have no homework so plenty of time to change the job listings, we need to get you an assistant and find you a potential king" She explained.

"I think that would be best, your friends can come visit you but we need to get you a boyfriend and then get you engaged within the next year" my mom agreed.

"Umm I uh okay well I guess we can bring in people to interview for my assistant I want to be at all the interviews" I responded

"Also, I will start on the employees list. The castle renovations are already underway. I want all the limousines except for one removed. Umm and I'll try to work on the boyfriend thing" I finished

Wow this is a lot.

"Okay I'm gonna continue with your mom, your dismissed" she said.

I walked out with stress and confusion. I started the long walk to my room to start on the employees list.

Upon arrival in my room I found James laying on my bend on his phone. "Hey, how'd the meeting go?" He questioned

"Ummmm okay, they want me to take the throne asap so they said I have to do my employee list and we will start interviewing people to be my assistants." I debated wether to tell him about the boyfriend thing. But decided to.

"Oh and They also said I can't take the throne until I'm engaged and so I need to find a boyfriend ASAP. So I don't know what I'm gonna do" I finished.

"Well hang on sit down. First off the paper work and interviews will be over before you know it. They will probably homeschool you to get it done quicker." He said while looking at me for confirmation.

I nodded and he continued, "I'm gonna be staying here for a week because all castles and our school are on lock down. No one enters no one exits. And umm about the boyfriend thing..."
