Chapter 16

"Once again good evening, I have two pieces of very exciting news to announce." I watched everyone but James glance at each other in confusion.

"First off I want to announce that I've officially started my training to be Queen!" Applause erupted around the room.

"Thank you so much! I have my castle renovations already under way and I will be working on my staff list very soon. I will move to being homeschooled so that I can have lessons on my new duties. I have exiting news for everyone in two weeks exactly, which is Saturday, November 21st. Her highness, Queen Elena, her assistant Adelaide, Mallory and I will be hosting interviews for people to be my assistant" I paused as claps filled the air.

"Thank you. There will be a sign up sheet with your name, resume and number so we may contact you. That concludes my first bit of news." Everyone politely claps waiting to see what I will say.

"This is a surprise to everyone actually including the rest of the royal family. As of 2pm today I have a boyfriend." I state happily as gasps fill the room.

"I am now dating his highness, Prince James Dante of Rowan."

I wait as the applause dies down to continue my speech before the bad news is told. The royal family doesn't wear all black for no reason.

"I have the official kingdom bracelet. A small golden heart on a simple gold chain. Since the kingdom is in lock down he will be staying with us for the next week or so. Now on to my mother for our last bit of news" I conclude, and curtsey.

I walk back to my throne as my mom walks up to the podium.

She delivers the devastating news about my father and we walk out to the cemetery and watch as the guards lower the kingdom flag.

Solitude surrounds the area as they lower the casket into the ground. I hear my mothers quiet sobs. I start crying as-well and I feel a hand intertwine with mine. I glance up and make eye contact with him.

My eyes glossy and red as he gives my hand a small squeeze. I see the cameras watching and poor Cupid doesn't understand. He demands that James pick him up.

James picks him up and relocks his free hand with mine. Peter and Caleb stand next to us and my mom standing to the side.

Hiding

Hiding from the blinding spot light.

They shovel and pack the dirt tight as we curtsey and bow and walk back inside as the cameras shut off.

Peter and Caleb head to bed.

Mom stays outside crying.

James and I tuck in Cupid.

We walk in silence back to my room and shut the door.

I sit down at my desk and start on the employees list.

This is gonna be a long night.
