Chapter 19

I hop out of the car yelling a thank you over my shoulder.

I run inside the school library to find Calum standing there with an orange rose and another note card.

I walk up to him and place the rose in my flower carrier. I take the card and Callum says "Good luck sis!".

I read the card and it says "Tales as old as time, true as it can be, Beauty and the Beast. A prince and a princes once danced and shared a kiss where in this school?" I read the card and immediately know he's talking about the dance.

I yell good bye to Caleb and run to the ballroom. Sure enough in the middle of the ballroom stands a lonely table with a hot pink rose and another note card.

"When people meet its always for a reason. Go to where we first met." Finally not a riddle!

I run out the doors and out of the school. I approach the car and ask him to take me to the royal park near the elementary school.

I sit down and admire the roses and the colors.

I glance up to see I'm already at the park. I jump up out of the car and run up the stairs to the elevated playground.

I find the black top and see the painted on bases and lines for kick ball.

I run up to home base and it all comes flooding back to me. The first day of 1st grade, I was wearing a frilly blue dress with white polka dots on it.

"Recess your highnesses!" The teacher yells opening the doors.

We all storm out and I run for the kick ball field. A bunch of boys stand there splitting up teams.

I run up and say that I wanna play. They all looked at me like I was crazy!

"Royal girls don't play sports like this. Go play on the playground or something." One of the boys says.

"Hey just cause I'm a girl and I'm royal doesn't mean I can't play! I will have you know I'm gonna be a queen one day, I bet most of you won't even be a king!" I boast.

"Wait so your first in line? Guys I think we should let her play. I'm James by the way" he says.

"Ugh fine but do you like her then? Girls have cooties and she won't even do well." A boy says.

"No! Girls are gross but she can be on my team" James says.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I think I did better than most of the boys too.

I bend down and pick up the light pink rose and note card.

"Home is where the heart is. Head home for your surprise!" I run back to the car and we head home.

We get there and I run inside to see James standing there with a bouquet of roses and he has the missing white rose in his hand.

"Awww James this was so cute and fun I loved it thank you" I say walking up to him.

He hands me the bouquet and places the white flower into my small rose collection. He takes them all and sets them in a vase on the counter.

"I'm glad you liked it but it's not over yet. Go up to your room and get pajamas. Meet me down here when your done" he says with a smile.

I run upstairs and grab a random sports bra and shorts.

I throw them in a small bag and run downstairs. James takes my hand and interlocks our fingers.

He walks and a slow pace to the back door and pulls a bandana out of his pocket.

"Okay I'm gonna blindfold you and guide you out of the house. Just hold on to me and I will help you" he says.

"Ugh okay" I say confused.

We walks up behind me and folds it and places it around my eyes. I feel his fingers brush against me cheeks and I shiver. He ties it behind my head easily due to the ponytail.

He grabs both my hands and we're off!
