Here's another chapter. Do you like the ship name Lorene? Do you have better suggestions? I'm all ears!

Don't be discouraged by what shield is planning. They are doing stuff on the side. You'll get some Lorene action in the second half of the chapter.

Happy reading!

Meanwhile in a seemingly abandoned building in an isolated part of the city...

"No body bearing resemblance to him was found at the sight sir."

It was Phil Coulson who had just entered the dimly lit room and brought this news. Apart from him, the room consisted of Shield head Nick Fury and agents Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill.

Nick Fury was pacing the room with his hands behind his back while the latter three were seated around a circular table.

Fury stopped his pacing, when Coulson spoke. "And you are certain of this?"

"Very" responded Coulson with a nod.

"We still have his weapon in our possession. So he will currently be powerless", said Barton.

"If it is true that he's a god from another planet then it seems unlikely that he will be completely powerless", Romanoff thought aloud.

"I agree. And seeing as he survived that massive blow to the head, and getting buried under that much debris, I think it can be said that he's only laying low to strike us when we least expect it", said Hill.

Romanoff, Barton and Coulson nodded on agreement.

"Is it also possible then that he knows the location of the tesseract?" Asked Barton.

"He could have overheard you during the quake" said Coulson.

"But he doesn't know who she is or what she is capable of. He won't be able to find her that easily. It's not like he could simply walk out of the headquarters and run into her. She's very far away from here" said Romanoff.

"But she herself doesn't remember who she is or what she's capable of. She is hidden- perhaps, but not for long, if he's looking for her. And she's not at all protected." Said Hill.

"Oh, shit", said Barton suddenly realising something.

When everyone looked at him, he sighed before explaining,

"Last time I checked, Carene was working as a volunteer for calamity victims"

They all gave him a momentary blank look before each of their eyes went wide in turn as they realised what that meant.

Barton nodded slowly, "she's probably already here".

"That may or may not give us very little time to act" said Coulson.

"He may or may not have found her already, but it is unlikely that he will know everything. Besides that, we also have his primary weapon, which I do believe he intends to use to take over the world, even though I can't be certain how" he added speculatively.

Up until this point, Fury had been absent from the discussion. He had been listening to his agents, yes. But he had been forming a plan in the back of his mind.

He cleared his throat. All the agents looked at him.

He spoke, "it seems that we are left with very little time and hence very little choice about the matter. Our enemy is prepared. He probably even has a plan of action by now and is only just waiting to strike."
