"Jade, wake up! Hey, wake up, sleepyhead!" Dean repeats as he shakes me up, disrupting my sleep. I hate it when he does this. It frustrates me. There are times where I could kill him for waking me up the way he does.
"I'm awake. I said I'm awake, stop it," I yell, eyes still heavy. The entire week in school flew. It was boring to mention. Dean and Monica always chilled together, leaving us alone together. Alone together because even though Robyn was with me, we hardly spoke, and when we do, it's always small talk. I don't know what's her problem.
"Earth to Jade, " Dean drawled, snapping me out of my thoughts. I glared at him. He's so full of energy, full of life. "How many energy drinks did you drink? Because you just too hyper at this time of the day."
Dean was a morning person. I'm the opposite. I'm not sure how we can even be friends. I think back. I was sitting at the back of the classroom as usual. Dean sees me and runs to me like I'm his idol or something. "Please be my friend," he said anxiously. "Sure" is all I said and boom, we were friends ever since. I'm pretty sure that's how it started. I'm just not sure if I exaggerated it a little bit, maybe I did, knowing me.
"Tomorrow night is the Valentine Festival. Do you know what that means? " Dean exclaims with excitement, snapping me out of my thoughts again.
"It means that there's a festival? " I drawled feeling annoyed.
Dean slapped me behind my head before answering, "it means fun with the girls. "
"Oooh, yay."
"Robyn is going to be there, you know," he added, still assuming something is happening between us.
"With the way she's acting, I don't think she'll come, " I sighed.
Dean thought for a second, only a second before pulling out his phone, "hey Robyn."
Did he just- no, he didn't. I can't believe he just did that. I jump at him attempting to grab his phone. He dodges, causing me to slip and fall off the bed. He laughs at my angry groans before continuing his conversation. "Sorry about that, Jade fell... Talking about him. I heard you been avoiding my best friend." he pauses for a moment, listening to what she has to say. My ears stretched, but I couldn't hear any reply.
"aww, okay. Oh, really? Interesting news. Why don't you come over and tell him? Better yet his here want to tell him right now ?" he joked.
"what she said?"
He just laughed and said, "you know what scratch that come over."
That's it, his dead. I tackle him. Pinned down, I snatched his phone. To my surprise, his phone was dead. "Fooled you, I don't even have battery life," he said, proud of himself as he laughed his guts out. I grab my pillow. Then a brilliant idea came. I repeatedly slashed the pillow/ left to right, hitting him silly. "Mercy mercy!" he begged for me to stop. I grin as I continue my onslaught. He had enough and kicked me off. " you deserve that," he dryly said as he snatched another pillow.
I swing mines as if it were to be a sledge-hammer. Dean blocked before countering me, managing to hit my head. I get an instant headache. He then jumps to the ground, planning to finish me off. Below him was a rug. "This is not how the great Jade dies," I childishly yell. He swings. I swiftly pulled the rug causing him to fall on his back with a loud shriek. He waves a white flag surrendering. It's not actually a flag, just his white sock, I win. Yeah, we childish for teenagers.
"Jade, why don't you just ask her why there's this awkwardness between the two of you," he advised.
"Because I don't care." I retorted while brushing my teeth.
