Robyn~
I should note how hot today was. I should write how afraid I am of these rides too. The height isn't the issue. It's just my irrational fear of the ride malfunctioning, inspiring the next final destination movie. I love that movie. Argh.
"For the hundred time, we don't have money for this," Jade sneered as he quarreled with Dean. I've been waiting for him to join me, maybe talk, get a drink. Take my mind off track. But no, he argues. Hmph.
"for the 19th time, I got us covered. I'm rich," Dean proudly bragged.
"You not rich!" Jade retorted.
"I am, see what's this," Dean indignantly asked, pulling a couple of dollars proving his point. I should probably end this bickering but hey, who doesn't love drama.
"That's your parent's money," Monica commented.
"But babe, you suppose to be on my side, "Dean said softly, his ego bruised.
" But hun I am, now let's get this over and have fun... Here cheer up," Monica said, kissing him before whispering in his ears. Dean instantly blushes and smirks. He is so gullible, and knowing Monica, it's probably something dirty.
"Why are you quiet?" Jade nudges me.
"Uh, no reason!" I lied.
"Your face tells me something else," Jade claims.
"It's nothing, man, " I insisted, hoping he believes me.
"You can tell me when you ready to. I won't push it on you to tell me. Just know that I'm always here when you are ready to talk," Jade said calmly.
"Pfft, what?" I laughed out hysterically, "where did you pull that line out from."
Jade smiles, rubbing the back of his head, "from this other book."
" I figured... It was so lame."
"Well, it made you smile, and that's what counts," he chuckled before continuing, "so tell me what's up, don't make me start guessing random shit."
"I'm just scared... Okay," I let out a long sigh, "last time I came here, I was six. I rode all baby rides, and now this is a major upgrade. I don't..."
Jade swiftly pulls me into a hug cutting me off. Few seconds passed before I pushed him with one hand and punched him with the other. "What did I do wrong!" Jade groan.
"Next time, don't touch me so casually," I said dryly, not knowing why I did that.
"I just hugged you," Jade drawled, waiting for an answer he'd never get.
Moments later, we were standing in another line waiting to go on the rollercoaster. "Are you sure it isn't scary?" I asked with a shaky voice. My heart is pounding rapidly, feeling uneasy.
"Robyn, trust me. Okay? It's nothing basically just up down like life. Go and sit down. I'll sit right next to you. Do you remember what you said earlier? " Monica cajoled.
I glance over at Jade, who was getting on the ride. I sigh. I do recall what I said earlier, "Don't work so hard for the future that you forget to live in the present. Live in the moment. Oh, why did I have to be so confident."
I slowly walked over to a row of four seats and sat next to Jade. They were black with yellow seat belts that go around our shoulders. Monica sat on the left side of me with Dean next to Monica.
As one of the workers fasten us into our seats, I now knew that it's too late to change my mind, "oh! No! " I looked over at Monica, filled with fear. I want to get out!
