I turned the knob and allowed the water to warm up while I undressed. I pulled my dress over my head and pushed down my underwear, stepping out of them. Finally, I stick a hand under the shower head, feeling the desire temperature for my wash and emitting a sigh of relief. Wow, a shower. I'm almost positive everyone has heard of, and hopefully experienced, a shower. You don't have to go into detail of your character doing this, especially if it's the same dull routine we read so often. "Shampoo, condition, shave everywhere because you met a cute boy at the coffee shop—" We get it, I promise.
Describing these acts and going into detail are pointless. You're trying to take up room or use more words in your book, but again, that's pointless. People enjoy it much more when you write about the things we don't experience everyday. Go into detail about other specific acts, like falling in love/meeting someone for the first time, not taking a shit.
And please, do not tell me about your character moaning under the hot water. I'm almost 100% positive no one fucking does this. I know for a fact when I step into the shower my first instinct is not to moan at the contact of water.
