~Proposal~ Baird x Reader

(Special request that takes place in Gears 2 where Baird tries to propose to the reader in the middle of battle and gets Marcus to officiate it. Honestly,  Let's see where this goes.)

It was normal mission with Delta-Squad. Clearing out Locusts from a specified area and keeping civilians safe.

You roll into cover, shooting your Boltok Pistol at a Locust's head. You saw Baird at another set of cover, blasting at Locusts with his Lancer.

Baird was a pretty handsome guy in your opinion. He was a great tech engineer, too. You have developed feelings for the guy. Best part is you have been dating him for a few years.

"Hey, Blondie!" You yell at the blonde male. He turns to you before looking at Marcus. He nods towards you before dismounting from his cover and darting over to you. You smiled as he plopped down next to you.

"Heya, Sweet cheeks. What's up?" Baird winked as you grin, cheeks dusted pink. You pointed to a group of Locust a little ways off.

"We need to get rid of that group of Locust, then we can go back to base." You explain. Baird bites his lip before looking at Marcus. He looked back at you, smiling.

"Yeah, but wait one moment. I gotta do something." Baird tells you before standing. "Marcus! It's time! Come over here!"

It's time? What was Baird planning now. You watched silently as Marcus looks at Baird and you before nodding hesitantly. Marcus then proceeded to run over. Baird signaled you to stand with him and you obeyed.

"(Y/N)," Baird says, looking nervous. What you weren't expecting was for him to get down on one knee and pull out a decorated black box from his pocket. He then opened it and held it up. "Would you make me the happiest man alive?"

You couldn't believe it. The man you loved for years is finally proposing to you. Granted, it was in the middle of a mission, but he still did it! And he seemed pretty genuine about it.

"Y-You're joking, right? You'd be such an ass if you were." You narrowed your eyes as Baird simply smiled shaking his head. You blushed crimson. He gripped your hand lightly before putting the dazzling ring that was in the box on you finger. He then leaned in to your ear.

"I even got Marcus to officiate it."  Baird whispered. You laughed slightly. He even roped in your best friend Marcus into it. Wow, he was prepared. Marcus the stepped in front of you two. Clearing his throat.

"Alright you two, let's get this over with. We still have a mission to do." Marcus claimed, glancing back at the approaching Locust group. "Do you, Damon S. Baird, take the hand of this lovely lady to be your wife?"

"I do." Baird promised, staring into your eyes. You blush slightly.

"And do you, (Y/N) (L/N), take the hand of this handsome man to be your husband?" Marcus said.

"I do." You promise, smiling while looking deeply into Baird's eyes. Marcus chuckled while watching the two.

"Then you may kiss the bride." Marcus announced while backing off. Baird then quickly planted his lips on yours while hugging you tightly. You hug back while smiling into the kiss.

The moment was interrupted when Marcus started shooting the upcoming Locust group. You sigh and pull away while giving one last smile to Baird before continuing the mission you had at hand.

It was about time he proposed to you.
