to share the truth is to offend
the ones she loves
and in so doing ostracize herself
then face self-doubt
and loneliness; will she survive?
the alternative
to ignore the calling, stay quiet
anger internalized
controlling her, a mask of harmony
live as before
so uninspired, granting the demons
leadership
precarious condition! no matter
what the choice
effort’s required, but warriors show courage
persevere
move through a bit of fear to beat
a lot of fear
fighting for freedom, they won't be slaves
though
victory may not be near, by far she’s choosing
