Aug, 1st, 2013

It was around 11:55 p.m. when Darien sent me the text telling me he was out front. I zoomed down the stairs and headed out the front door toward the rented black on black car waiting out front. I crawled into the backseat and he pulled off.

“Wassup?” Darien greeted from the front seat.

“Wassup,” I gestured back as I stuck my hand up front so that we could shake up.

“Getting ready for a homi,” he answered as he slipped on his black skull cap.

I didn’t say anything. I looked around to see who all was on this mission. Twenty minutes later the car stopped to quiet halt outside a white residential home. “Why we stop?” I asked.

“We here, you scared?” Darien asked from the front seat.

“Nah,” I answered quickly.

“Good, bet not, we ain’t come all this way for nothin’ some-body gettin’ got tonight on my mama,” Joker threatened from the front seat.

“Now you know once we step out this car ain’t no going back?” Darien questioned as we made eye contact from the rearview mirror.

“Yeah.” I answered.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” he questioned again.

“Yes man.” I responded.

“Alright,” he agreed as he slipped on a pair of black cotton gloves.

"Since your arm broken, you gotta get a small one homie." Monnie said.

"Graduate from that and you get one of the big boys man." Travis said and then laughed."Darien had to."

"Nigga fuck you." he joked. "Since your arm broke, you gon’ come in last." he told me.

"It's already been planned." Dominick added.

"You ever been in a black out before?" Darien asked.

"Nah, what's that?" I asked.

"It's a special project I like to do, all you do is cut the power lines so that the whole place is in darkness then you shoot up the place.” He elaborated. “Except this time we ain’t gon’ cut the lights, we just gon’ rush in.”

"Is it gon’ kill em?" I asked.

"You want them dead then I got the perfect way." Monnie spoke.

“We know yo’ convict ass do." Dominick said

"Man nigga yo’ daddy a fucking convict." he said.

"Nigga he yo’ daddy too," Darien said laughing.

"Oh I knew that," Monnie remembered. We all laughed and then the car went silent for a moment.

“You gotta’ be on your toes.” He informed.

“I know.” I answered with a hint of irritation.

Darien looked at me for a moment, and then cocked his gun. “Everybody ready?” he asked.

Everyone agreed. Without another word Darien opened the car door and stepped out; we followed his lead. Like a slave in the night he led us to the house. As we crept up the porch Darien silently directed what he wanted us to do. He instructed Monnie and Travis to go around back; while me and him stayed in front. Darien mouthed a couple words, but I couldn’t make them out. I watched as he placed one finger over the peep hole and knocked on the door. After the third knock we heard a male voice ask, “Who is it?” as he opened up the front door. Without a word Darien bone rushed inside.

“Everybody sit the fuck down!” he yelled as he aimed the gun between each person.

“Come on De’, wassup man, we ain’t did shit,” one of the guys cried.

“Shut up!” he yelled again.

“Come on man, you see we got company in here don’t do this man,” the light skin guy pleaded.

“Man I don’t give a fuck about these bitches, business is business, they here so they gon’ get smoked too.” He explained.

“You three,” Monnie called out to the girls. They looked over to him with scared expressions and hands raised. “Get y’all hoe asses over there.” All three rose and moved over to the other couch.

“We doin’ no survivors?” Monnie asked.

“It’s up to little man right here,” Darien stated as he looked over to me. “What you wanna’ do thug?”

“I told y’all I wanted none.” I reminded that.

The room went silent and everyone looked to Darien for a moment. I watched the smirk on his face. “You heard the man, shoot ‘em dead.”

“You li’l bitch,” Dre growled.

“Aye my nigga, If I was you I wouldn’t be sayin’ shit right now.” Darien warned. “As a matter of fact you was gonna’ get this sooner or later; where’s my money?” he asked.

“I ain’t-“

“Got it?” Darien questioned, as he interrupted sarcastically. "Aye man, they just signed they death wish, little homie pick yo’ victim."

Darien moved back and let me take control. I raised the gun and aimed it toward Dre’s direction. In a matter of seconds he saw his life flash before his eyes. Without another word the gun sounded, sending blood and brain matter splattered against the wall.

“Please don’t shoot me man, it was all his idea!” his friend pleaded.

Without another word Darien and Monnie raised their guns and sent silent shots to the other two guys. Monnie turned to the girls and pulled the trigga, leaving them slumped over.

We walked out the front door and back to the car that was waiting out front. I can’t believe that I had just killed someone. The only thing I could do was sit in shock. I’m not only a liar, but I’m a killer too.

“Damn, we got a cold blooded killer on our hands.” Monnie complimented.

   I chuckled. “Nah, I’m not.”

“Bullshit you coulda’ fooled me.” Darien joked.

“Where you goin’ li’l homie?” Dominick asked as he made a left turn.

"Back home." I answered.

"What's yo’ plans for tonight De?" Monnie asked.

"Layla posed to be at a club tonight, so I’ma have Cede's come through,” he answered. “Why?"

"Never-mind, we just gon’ hit up some clubs down-town." Monnie said.

"Nah I’ma stick to my plans." Darien remarked.

“You be fuckin’ some of the finest bitches in Chi-town,” I admitted.

He laughed and then boasted, “That’s how I gotta roll, the only time you catch an ugly bitch on my dick is in the wee hours when she suckin’ on it.”

“What about Layla?” I asked.

“What about her, what she don’t know won’t hurt her,” he told me.

After that there were no more words spoken. I turned to face out the window as my mind drifted back to the fact that I had just killed someone. I’m not sad about doing it, just sad at the fact that I have to tell Moriah.
