The blonde girl has been here for about two weeks now, and I still haven't learned her name. But something seems off about her. The way she just sits and listens, eyes calculating. And it wasn't until Minho came back from the maze yesterday with a wide cut on his forehead that I knew something was wrong with that bloody girl.

Minho came back screaming about some bloody griever chasing him and giving him that cut on his face. He hadn't been stung, but it was just the fact that he had seen one in the first place. No one has ever seen a griever out and about in the day time before.

No, it usually just hides in its little den, watching us from wherever as we skip happily around the maze with buckets full of flowers in our hands.

What I am trying to say is that this blondie has something to do with the new appearances of daylight grievers. Because one of the runners named Johnny came back today hollering about another griever.

We are just lucky that these boys were able to come back.

I stand by the maze entrance and feel someone come up and stand next to me.

A girl with blonde hair and freckles that make her look sun-kissed.

She doesn't say anything, just stands there, watching. Calculating. What she always does.

"What are you doing?" I ask as she takes a step forward towards the maze. She looks back at me but doesn't say anything. "Hey!" She looks back towards me again and then moves so that she is right in front of me.

"I want to see it." She says, then turns around, almost robot-like, and starts to walk towards the entrance. "I want to see the maze."

"You can't, I won't let you," I said, rushing forward to pull back on her arm.

"You can't stop me."

"You aren't trained," I insisted.

"I know more then you think." The second thing that leads me to believe that she is causing these differences. "You will let me go, Newt. And when you do, you are going to go over to Maya and tell her that Eleanor walked out into the maze and that if she doesn't come after me, I won't come back."

"And why would I do that?" I ask the girl, Eleanor.

"Because I told you to. All that girl ever talks about is wanting to run through the maze, let her." What is this girls angle?

"Listen, I don't know why you want Maya to go into the maze, but I won't let her. Especially not with the grievers out there. The walls are about to close."

"She's watching." Eleanor smiles at me and then rips her arm away, running into the maze. I hear a scream and look behind me to see Maya had dropped whatever she had been holding.

"Elle!" She shouted and then is running over to me. "Newt! Stop her!" I can't, the entrance is about to become a wall. And Eleanor is stuck out there. We won't be seeing her again. There were two girls in the glade, and now Maya has to live alone again. I can't help but feel a ping of sorrow for the girl in front of me with tears already streaming down her face.

"Maya," I said slowly, as her eyes widened with an idea. "Maya no." She tried to run past me but I had wrapped my arms around her, bringing her flush against my chest. "You can't."

"Newt." Her voice was dangerously low and quiet. Boys started to gather around. "Let me go."

"No, the entrance will be closing in a few minutes, you won't make it back." I tightened my arms.

"Newt, Newt please." Her voice cracked.

"I'm sorry." I heard the grumbling of the walls. They were closing. "I am so sorry." She sobs against me. And then suddenly, she rips herself out of my arms and is springing into the maze. I nearly fall to the ground right there. "Maya!" I yell, my voice hoarse. Minho is next to me and about to run after her. But I can't lose him too. "Minho, no, please. I can't lose you both." His eyes held tears.

My eyes held them too.

The walls close but before they do, I see Maya looking back at me from the other side. And somehow, over the roaring of the walls, I hear her whisper three words.

"See you later." And then she is gone.

A/N
Okkkkkkk sooooo that happened. I kinda feel like this a bit of a filler chapter because it is smaller, but maybe it's not because some stuff did go down.

What do you think about Eleanor? Is she to be trusted?

Will Maya make it back safely with Eleanor, or does only one girl make it back? What if it isn't Maya?

See ya'll next chapter
