I hear the music
Do you?
I see the notes floating in the air
Please tell me you can see it too!
I know
I'm weird
Unique
Unrecognised.
I'm nothing
A nobody masked in disguise.
Who is Lilypad?
What does she do?
Why does she matter?
Who Are you?
I hear the music playing
Softly she sings
I am born of words
And of the endless melody.
Tell me you can hear it
Tell me I'm okay
For I'm slowly losing my mind
Each and every day...
We are told to be unique
To follow our own path
Yet all of us hide behind the same pathetic masks!
I know you'd hear the music
If you uncovered your ears.
The truth is in front of you
In all of your peers.
We're forced into a mold
A model we can't follow
The "truths" that you've been told
Are anything but hollow.
Uncover your ears and open your eyes
Drop the mask
Burn the costume
Of society's disguise
Aren't you disgusted when you see yourself?
That's what they want
They want us to live in an insecure hell.
But I'll tell you something
In this nonsensical rant
You are you
And I am I
And nothing will change that.
Not makeup, not clothes, not grades, not muscle mass, not loads of sass
I hid behind it all for far too long
Don't torture yourself
Listen for the music and pick your own song.
I can hear the music
It is playing loud
Can you hear it too?
Don't you feel proud?
That is your fight song
Your personality in flowing notes across the sky
To give up my music
Well, I'd rather die.
That is me
This is mine
And it's not greedy at all
To play your song for you
That music is you
So stop wasting your time
Listening to the static
On everyone else's station.
Find your own music
Make this yours
And no one else's
You deserve that.
You truly do.
