Imagine this my friend
The world is empty
There is nothing
Yet there you are
This
This is your mind
You are standing amidst the
Grey Nothing
When you see it in the distance
Rubble
You begin to venture forward
Slowly at first
Then faster
And faster
You are sprinting now
Your hair is trailing behind you
Like a golden cape
Your bare feet feel like they are
Running across a cool current of air
You stop suddenly
Your breath is gone
It is forcefully ripped from your lungs
At your feet is rubble
Small at the very edges
Just pebbles
Growing into a fallen city
You gingerly walk across the
Rubble
Pebbles fall away from your feet
You are climbing now
A gentle breeze tugs at your hair
Sweat begins to head on your forehead and trails down your neck
You are climbing now
The jagged edges of buildings cut into your hands
But you continue forward
To the center
Of the city
You wipe the sweat away from your eyes
Trailing dirt across your face
The sky is a bright blue
The air is cool against your sweaty face
You are so high
Reaching roofs of buried houses
And then you see it
A flash of gold miles below you
You sit atop your perch and listen
It is so quiet today
You try to remember when the storm came to take the city
You remember running
Leaving behind all of your beloved memories
And running
You were scared for your life
The storm came in swiftly and left
Everything grey and dull for a long time
What brought you here today?
A pull in your chest
Your heart beckons you forward
Slowly you turn to look back
All you see is the dull grey nothing
You look forward at the blue sky
And the golden remnants of the
Heart of the city
You scoot forward and slide down
The rubble of fallen buildings
As you slide down you think of
The many years you spent building this place
And the many people who helped you
In some way or another
A sadness sweeps over you
When you reach the golden
Heart of the city
You are tired and parched
You slowly step towards the wishing fountain
You hear the whispers of your
Old wishes and dreams echoing around the base
You cup your hands and drink the
Crystal clear water
You feel revitalised and hopeful
As you gaze around the untouched remains of your heart
The core of memories stands tall
And still
It glitters just as the fountain does
You can rebuild here
Will you?
