MY FIRST DAY OF WORK WAS DEFINITELY NOT FUN AT ALL.

The entire afternoon went so slow after I saw Mr. Jefferson just came back from his lunch meeting. Then, I had to go to a meeting with him and, I had to write down everything and report back to him tomorrow morning. Then, soon after that, we had to go the Gathering Night.

Mr. Jefferson was in his car with a driver, of course and followed by me and Sam. There was a bottle of water at the back seat and I asked, "Can I have your water?"

"It's yours, Ms. Miller," He said.

I was so tired to tell him again and again not to call me by my last name so, I did not this time. "So, Sam," I called and I saw his eyes were looking at the mirror for a second. "How long have you been working with Mr. Jefferson?"

"A year," He told. "Though I was put on hold last five months since the first girl was fired."

"You mean, there was someone before me?" I asked. "Why?"

He cleared his throat, "I am not allowed to speak any of it. I apologize, Ms. Miller, for even mentioning it."

"You know what," I said. "It's fine. Don't worry about it." Though, I was curious as hell.

The Gathering Night was boring as fuck. It was a formal event and nobody was speaking with each other. It was just bunch of rich people drinking champagne and looked good. Well, they did talk but, it only lasted for fifteen minutes tops.

I was standing beside Noah and almost everyone was staring at us though he did not seem to be bothered by that.

Then there was an older man in grey suit, grasped with Noah and said, "Noah! It's a great pleasure you could make it tonight. I just reviewed your email this morning. Great proposal! How about we discuss it more some time in the future?"

"You got a deal," He said with a smile.

"This is my daughter," The grey suit man introduced as a beautiful tall girl approached him and immediately smiled at Noah. "Lisa, will be partnering up with me as soon as she graduates this year."

She held her hand up and Noah took it and kissed it. I swore I saw him winking and she just went melting as she giggled.

It took me my strong will not to roll my eyes right now because it would seem like I was being rude.

As soon as he let go of her hand, he put his arm behind my back and introduced me, "This is Jane Miller, my assistant."

"Ah, hello Ms. Miller," The older man then shook hand with me. "Finally, you decided to hire an assistant after how many months..."

Noah just shrugged, "I have to have someone taking care of me and I have a feeling Ms. Miller is the right person to do that."

"You're lucky to have his good side," The man said. "It's rather difficult to impress this man!" He then laughed and Noah joined laughing.

To be honest, I had no idea what he was talking about. True that, Noah sometimes was intimidating at work and seemed difficult to work with but as far as I knew, he had not give me a hard time.
