JEN ASKED ME A LOT OF QUESTIONS.
Like, regarding to my hometown, my family, my career and to my surprise, Noah was smiling brightly than before and he did not seem like he was about to tell his mother that I was not his girlfriend.
The question stopped when Jen asked me about how we met. Noah and I exchanged looks many times, maybe too many.
He suddenly reached for my hand and smiled, "She was right there, being clumsy on the stairs and somehow I knew she was going to fall on the steps... I caught her right in time before she fell and that's when I took a good look on her and I finally noticed how beautiful she really is..."
My heart hurt, looking how sincere he seemed with his innocent smile. To my surprise, he smiled a lot with his Mother here with us.
I ended up looking back at him in the eye and for few seconds, I thought he was being honest as his thumb caressed my hand softly.
When I thought of his words, that was when I came to his penthouse to save his ass from that girl. For the moment, my inner-self wanted it to be true but the reality hit me hard.
This was Noah Jefferson we were talking about. He would sleep with any girls and forgot to call her the next day. There was no way at all, that he would be telling the truth.
"I am so happy that you finally have someone that can take a good care of you," Jen gave a wide smile. "You should bring Jane along on our family dinner, Noah," She spoke.
"I wasn't planning on showing up," He said honestly as he moved his hand away from mine. "I have a lot to take care of at the office."
"Daniel is coming," She insisted calmly. "You do know how disappointed he can be if he knows you're not coming," She said, looking worried.
I decided to cut in, "Noah..." His eyes then laid on mine, with great focus. "This must mean a lot for Jen, you joining the dinner. Besides, I'm sure everyone is excited to see you after a while."
His eyes stayed on mine for quite some time. For a second, I was nervous, waiting for his reaction for cutting in. But then, he breathed as he pat my hand and grabbed it with a smile, "How can I say no to you?"
My heart hammered against my chest and my stomach was playing a trick—butterflies felt like flying.
"Wonderful," Jen cheered and smiled widely.

WE WERE IN FRONT OF PER SE RESTAURANT, SENDING JEN TO HER CAR.
Noah leaned in to kiss her on both cheeks as she said in between the kisses, "Please, come on time."
He chuckled lightly, "Have I ever came in late?"
She gave him the look and hummed.
"I promise," He said, surrendered. "I'll come on time."
Then she smiled and shook her head as she turned to me to kiss me on both cheeks, "I'll be seeing you on the family dinner, Jane. You have got to meet Daniel, Noah's big brother is coming from England. I'm sure he'll approve of you."
I just smiled. My inner-self almost slapped myself for standing too stiff. I was being too careful not to fall on top of my boss' mother and not to slip off from saying ridiculous things like, I was in fact not the girlfriend.
"And, Noah dear," She reached for his face, softly. "Please, eat well. You're getting thin."
He laughed immediately, and for the first time I saw this side of him. He looked very charming and gentleman when it came with his mother. I would understand why all of the girls had fallen hard for this man.
Not only he was a handsome Jefferson, he also had a killer laugh and smile. Honestly, I would do anything just to see that smile and hear that laugh again.
We waved at Jen as her driver started to drive away from here. We were left standing side by side with an awkward silence and after a long minute, I decided to say something.
"Are you even planning to tell your mother that we are not together?" To my surprise, my voice sounded a little high.
Then, he tilted his head and looked at me, "You put me in a trouble, not telling my mother would probably the least of my problems."
"What trouble?" I asked.
He scoffed, "The dinner. And I'm going to make sure to drag you along."
"Why is it a trouble?"
He just sighed, "Let's go back to the office. We've got a lot to do today."
"I'm supposed to say that," I spoke.
