I woke up in a very familiar room. My room. I slowly sat up, holding my head as it was pounding in pain. I heard a few shuffling but brushed it off.

"Shit!" I screeched as I didn't see the red eyes that belong to the one and only Jake. "Where's Brennen?" I mumbled. "He.... didn't make it. The cuts were too deep. I'm sorry." Jake said frowning.

"It's all my fault!" I sobbed into my hands. He died saving me. Jake disappeared, leaving me all alone.

"It's not your fault." I heard a soft voice say. My chin was lifted as I was now staring into the beautiful green eyes that belong to the one and only Brennen. "I thought you died!" I cried as I hugged him tightly.

He hesitated, but then wrapped his arms slowly around me. "Why would you care?" He asked. I pulled away and said "No one deserves death." "Even if they're a dead hearted vampire?" He said as he put his hand on my cheek.

"Even so." I said as I slowly started to lean in and so did he, when he stopped suddenly and said "No. I can't." He moved away. "You can't w-what?" I asked. "I can't fall in love with you. It's too dangerous." He whispered as he was about to leave.

I caught his wrist and said "I've been through a lot of dangerous throughout the weeks Brennen. You can always fall in love."

I saw a spark in his eyes but not the hunger kind. I've never seen it before.

"I have to go." Was all he said before he disappeared.
