I lay in 'bed' as this one question roams in my head, keeping me up.

"Why did Brennen save me?"

Why didn't he leave me die? Let me fall to my death? Why'd he risk his life to save me? I stare up at the paintings carved into the ceiling until I spotted one.

A male falling to his death and another male reaching to grab him. Save him. It still doesn't answer my question, though. Brennen has shown nothing but anger or just blank expressions for the past few months.

Months. It's been months since I first 'met' Brennen and the gang. Months since my life had changed forever. Months since I discovered my true self. My hidden identity, you could say.

I decided to head to sleep or at least try to. I'm sure it's pretty late and I don't know what we might face tomorrow.
We can never know.

I closed my eyes and wrapped my arms lazily around my stomach as that one question still roams my head.

I woke up to someone nudging my side with their leg. I ignored it and rolled the other way. They nudged me again and I once again ignored it.

Suddenly, the 'mattress' was pulled from under me and I landed face first onto the filthy ground of the abandoned mansion.

I groaned and rolled onto my back as I shield my face from the sunlight. "Wake up." Jake said as he, Corey and Brennen tower over me. "Hey Corey? Move to the left a bit." I said and he obliged confusedly.

I sighed in satisfaction as he blocked the sun. Suddenly, I was pulled up by my arms and forced to stand. I sighed in dissatisfaction and glared at them. "It's not time for rest. We should get moving." Brennen frowned.

I pushed pass them and grabbed my back pack before opening my jacket for them to hide in. They turned into bats and flew into my jacket as they hid in the inside pockets of it. I carefully sneaked out, making sure I don't get caught and started walking in a direction.

I walked pass a breakfast bar and reversed my steps. I styled my hair a bit before I walked in. I ordered some pancakes with syrup and strawberries, some blueberries on the side.

What? I'm starving.

~~~
I payed for my food after eating and walked back out. I felt a sting on my side, one as painful as a jellyfish's, and heard hissing in my jacket. It was probably all three of Brennen, Jake and Corey.
I think I deserved that because I technically made them wait while ate, feeling like heaven its self.
I chuckled and continued walking deciding to find some where with less sunlight so they can come out. I walked for a few hours until I found an abandoned jail. Settling in abandoned places was always the smartest idea since it reduces the chance of getting assaulted, killed, or found.
I walked in and opened my jacket so the three could fly out. They did so and transformed into normal form as they cross their arms and stare me down. I smiled nervously and Jake raised an eyebrow.
"What? I was hungry. I don't suck one's blood like you guys do." I said slightly annoyed and their eyes turned hazel, fangs popping out. "O-okay. I-I'm sorry." I stuttered as I shrunk down.
They sighed and we split ways to look around. It was pretty big and they wanted to make sure it was clear. Brennen insisted on coming with me which felt odd but I shrugged it off.
We roamed around in silence until I broke it. "Hey Brennen?" I asked and he hummed as he walked ahead of me. "Why'd you save me?" I asked and he stopped in his tracks. "I.. don't know. Something came over me but it's gone." He said after moments of silence and entered another hall.
I felt slightly disappointed for some unknown reason and followed him in. I walked next to Brennen as I point the flash light around and watch as he focuses on a specific thing. Suddenly, he turned to me and I noticed his eyes were a light aqua color.
"B-Brennen are you okay?" I asked as he slowly approached me. I've never seen his eyes turn into this color and I'm not sure what it represents. I slowly backed away as he kept approaching, until my back hit the wall.
He gently grabbed my wrists and pinned them to the wall as he looks down at me. He slowly leaned in, when he stopped half way and backed away. He turned his head away from me and said "I'm sorry. I don't know what happened. Let's go."
I pushed away from the wall slightly stunned and caught his wrist. "What are you doing Colby?" He asked confused. I gently backed him into the wall and he asked once again "Colby, w-what are you doing?"
I leaned in and connected our lips, his cold ones meeting mine. He kissed back after moments of hesitation and put his hand on my cheek. He slowly turned us around so I was against the wall and gently kissed my neck.
He kissed down until he stopped, asking for my consent I nodded. He kissed it one more time before bitting down. I winced a bit but the pain eased when he sucked my blood slightly.
He licked the spot, healing the wound and looked into my eyes. I noticed his eyes turn back to green then an almost colorless green.
He backed away and disappeared leaving me.
All he needs is love.. I realized.
I know this probably isn't what you expected in this chapter
but I decided to add it as a little filler although it's a bit long.
Hopefully the next one'll be more exciting.
