I lay on the metal bed in one of the jail cells, once again not able to sleep. I wasn't think of anything specific though. I just wasn't as tired.Suddenly, my cell door slid shut with a very loud bang. I shuffled in my bed and quickly stood up. I ran to the door and tried opening it but it wasn't budging. I placed my hands on the bars as I desperately try to see who the cause of locking me in was.
I tried opening it again but it was really jammed. I'm literally locked in a jail cell right now. "Jake! Brennen!" I called as I looked around for them. A hand was clasped over my mouth and a voice said "Shhhh..."
They slowly dragged me backwards and said "It's me, Jake. Calm down." I nodded slowly and he removed his hand. "What was that?" I asked confused. "I'm not certain but it was certainly not us." He said and disappeared.
Jake appeared on the other side of the cell door and opened it with full force, setting me free. I grabbed a flashlight, leaving my backpack behind and carefully walked out. He motioned to split up and I nodded.
I walked into a hall with more cells as I carefully look around, not knowing what or who's there. I pat my pocket searching for my knife when I realized I left it behind. I mumbled a 'fuck' and decided to wish for luck that I won't be needing it.
One of the cell bars slammed behind me and I quickly shown my flashlight in the direction. I saw what seemed to be a shadow passing by quickly but no structure belonging to it. I gulped and took a deep breath before continuing.
My breath hitched as I felt breathing on the back of my neck and I turned around to see nothing. I turned back around in the direction I was heading, when I was blasted away. I hit a huge book case and fell to the ground as dozens
and dozens of books buried me.I assume it was the prison commissary since it had medical stuff and books etc.
The two bookcase stands almost crushed me when they were stopped mid air. I unshield myself slightly and propped myself up on my elbows.I saw the shadow once again due to my flashlight pointing in the exact direction. The shadow was small so the being responsible must be close to me. "I k-know where you are." I stuttered.
Suddenly, my flashlight was smashed, glass shattering and the shadow disappeared. I felt a deep pain in my heart and the shadow appeared towering over me.
I gasped for air and grabbed my chest as I felt my heart being squeezed. The being opened his fist and I could breath again. I panted as I took in deep breaths and the pain eased.
I looked up in fear at the being as he smirked and I slowly shuffled backwards. "Don't move." He demanded and the bookcases leaned over me further. I did as told and stopped moving.
My chest still heaved up and down and my heart raced as the being appeared next to my face. My breath hitched and I clenched my jaw in fear. I looked alway slightly, it's warm and death like smell hitting on my neck.
"Mmm I can feel the power in you. I want it!" He said in a terrifying voice. "I-I have no power." I lied as I tried to act my way out of this.
"Lies!" He screeched and grabbed my jaw, his grip tightening and nails digging into my flesh. I closed my eyes tightly and winced at the force.
He let go of my face and backed away. He made a quick motion with his hand and the bookcases fell atop of me causing me to passed out.
~~~
"Colby?!" I heard a voice say, recognizing it was Brennen's. I groaned as everything's ached and tried getting out."Brennen!" Corey called and I heard running footsteps. I felt the weight of the bookcases being lifted off me and then the books being removed from over me. Brennen and Corey pulled me up and wrapped my arms around their shoulders to hold me up.
Jake appeared and took over Brennen. "Nightingales." Brennen said simply and Jake and Corey nodded. "I took care of the first one. There's one left." Jake said as I looked between them.
They took me into the main cell I was staying in and laid me down on the metal bed. They closed the cell door on me and took off to look for the other Nightingale.
"Leave me alone!" I yelled when I suddenly saw the other figure appear in front of my cell door. He teleported closer to me in a glitching motion. They're probably the most horrifying monsters I've ever faced and have been scared off.
And I've come across a lot.
They had no pupils, all white eyes. They were skinny as skeletons, literal ribs and bones showing through their very thin and pale skin. They had no hair, and a disgusting skin texture.
He laughed and teleported even closer. I shuffled into the corner of the bed, when it clenched it's fist, my heart returning to the crushing pain and the gasping for air as I held my chest.
Suddenly, a sharp and long iron pole went straight through it's heart. The pain in me eased and it's body dropped to the ground before disintegrating. Corey stood panting as he held the sharp metal in his hand. He dropped it to the ground, a clattering noise echoing as Brennen and Jake stood behind him shocked as myself.
"How'd you know it'd be here?" Jake asked, breaking the short moments of silence. "I didn't exactly. Colby is basically a target of death so I assumed it'd be looking for him. Guess I was right." Corey chuckled at the end.
Nightingales is just a name I found on the
internet but the 'facts' and descriptions were all made up.
