"It's either he leaves and you stay or you all leave! Forever." The leader said furious after minutes of arguing. Brennen and the others stayed silent."I'll leave." I spoke up and everyone's attention was on me. "What?" Brennen asked stunned. "I'll leave. Stay with your family and friends, Brennen. I've got no one and nothing to lose." I repeated and stood up.
I walked up the dark stair case when my wrist was caught. I looked down and it was Corey. "You can't go alone." He said stern. "Yes I can Corey. I've been alone nearly my full life. This is no different." I said softly and got out of his grasp.
"Colby it isn't safe out there!" Corey said again. "Good bye Corey." I said and sent a weak smile, before leaving.
I put up my hood and put my hands in my pockets as I hung my head low to avoid being recognized by any other beings who want my ass dead or alive.
I felt a pain in my head again but I didn't let it get to me. I focused on the thought of what I might face now that I'm alone and the pain eased slightly. I felt my eyes turn gold color but that usually happens so I assume it's just a side effect. Of something I'm clueless of.
I saw two men walking towards me and I pulled my hood further down. "Hold up good-looking." One of them said before I could fully pass by them.
I took in a deep breath and faced them slowly."How b'out we walk you home?" One of them asked grinning as he grabbed my arm. "Uh, no thank you." I said and got out of his grasp before I continued walking.
I glanced back and surely they were following me. I picked up speed and turned the corner.I hid behind a rusty statue and they passed by me confused. Or that's what I thought.
"Found you." A deep voice said from next to me and I gulped.
~~~
The two men threw me on the ground as they towered above me. I shuffle backwards slightly as I look up at them in slight fear. "What do you want?" I asked shaking and they smirked."We want your sweet and luscious blood." One of them laughed as they pulled out a knife.
After failing miserably in convincing Jacob, the leader of our troop, I decided to leave and search for Colby. Jacob seemed shocked when I technically chose a human being over them, so I assume he didn't really kick us from the troop.
But honestly, I could care less if he did. I shift into my bat form and fly high as I look for Colby or at least any sign of him. 'My heart feels odd.' I mind linked to Corey and Jake. 'It's love Brennen.' Corey chuckled as they flew by me.
'No. It's the connection between Brennen and Colby. I think it's Colby, Brennen. We have to find him quick. Something doesn't feel right.' Jake mind linked.
I flapped my wings faster as I searched like the eyes of an eagle looking for its pray. 'Down here!' Jake yelled and swooped down.
We followed him and I shifted into normal form as I ran to Colby's limp body. I checked for a pulse but there was none..
(ℂ𝕠𝕝𝕓𝕪'𝕤 ℙ𝕠𝕚𝕟𝕥 𝕆𝕗 𝕍𝕚𝕖𝕨)I shot up gasping for air as I coughed uncontrollably. I was laid on a counter of an abandoned restaurant, on some sleeping bags and cloths.
"Hey." A deep voice said startling me. I took in a few more deep breaths and recognized the glowing green eyes. Brennen walked out of the darkness, avoiding the direct sunlight.
"What happened?" I asked as I swung my legs off the counter but stayed seated. "Well, after moments of arguing with the troop leader I decided to look for you." Brennen started.
"Well we did." He said as Jake and Corey appeared. I smiled lightly at the fact that they chose me over their troop.
"We found your limp body in a dark alley and found no pulse. You have one life left, Colby." Brennen said and I nodded.
The risk of me dying is now higher since I have a life left.
Just to clarify if anyone didn't fully understand,
Colby now has only one life left,
since in a previous chapter it was mentioned that he has two.
P.S. Keep in mind how Brennen had two lives.😉
