"Hey, Mom?" I ask, hoping she'll be understanding.

"Yes, Y/n?" She responds, busy with the dishes.

"Would you throw me out if I were to tell you something?" She turns and looks at me.

"You're not pregnant, are you?" She asks, walking over to me.

"No. Um, I want to join the Scouts."

"What! No. You can't. You're gonna die out there. You can't even lift a box full of books, let alone being able to lift all that gear everywhere," she says, looking at me with disapproval.

"That's something I will have to train for. You don't just wake up and have strength, Mom. I wanted to tell you now, so it wouldn't be a surprise later. I'm going to the 104th Cadet Training and you can't stop me."

"Oh yes, I can. Don't you ever talk to me like that. You're not joining the scouts and that's final."

"You know, I didn't want to get thrown out because I wanted to join the Scouts, and yet I'm still going to get thrown out because I'm throwing myself out. If you won't let me join the Scouts, then I'm leaving," I say, walking towards the door.

"Leave then. I'm not changing my mind."

"Fine."

With that, I'm outside. The air smells rotten, like usual. I walk farther and farther away from what I used to call home. As I continue walking the dirty street, I hear boys yelling. Sounds like a fight. I run over to where the fight was and I see 3 boys fighting another boy.

I run over and step in front of the beaten up boy. One of the bullies manages to hit me. Let's just say that his arm...wasn't in the socket. The other bullies looked at me and ran away. The boy behind me was beaten up a decent amount.

I look at him and he smiles at me. His bright blue eyes shine from the sun's direct light. His blonde hair, now somewhat tainted red, covers a little of his face. He seems to be a very intelligent person. I can tell.

"Thanks for fighting off those bullies. You really messed them up," he says, a laughs slightly.

"I guess I did. I don't know."

"You scared them away! The only other person who does that is Mikasa," he says, excitedly.

"Oh."

"Yeah. My name's Armin. Yours?"

"Y/n." I smile at him.

"Well, nice to meet you," he says, trying to get up.

"Do you need help?" I ask, reaching my hand out. He nods and I help him up.

I hear him mumble under his breath, "I need to stop being so weak."

"Hey, you're not weak. You know those bullies, they just prey on the hypothetical weak because they are weak themselves. They just want to prove to themselves that they are strong when they really aren't." He looks up at me and smiles slightly.

"Wise words." He says. "What were you doing walking around here?" He asks, sitting on the ledge.

"Eh, trying to calm my mind. I guess that didn't happen." I smile.

"Well, at least you took your anger out of someone who deserves it."

"Yeah."

"You remind me of one of my best friends, who I thought would actually be here by now." As Armin says that, a boy and a girl, around my age, run towards us. "Speak of the devil."

"Armin, where are those bastards?" The boy says. "Who the hell are you?" He says, looking at me with his piercing green eyes.

His eyes show weakness. Not a strength weakness, but a loving weakness. He wants to get revenge on whoever hurt Armin, who is someone he loves.

"Cool it hot-head. They're gone. I scared them away."

"You?! Ha! You couldn't even pick up a feather. Just run along now and leave Armin alone before I beat you up too."

"Eren. Calm do-" The girl starts, but I interrupt.

"You're weak," I pause. He looks at me, enraged. He opens his mouth to make a smart remark, but I start to talk again. "You show weakness in your eyes. You're strong, from what I can tell. However, you lack strength as an emotional person. You hide a lot of your feelings away, to prove that you're strong. You're acting strongly in front of Armin to prove that you'll be there for him when at times, you can't. You act strong in front of her," I point to the girl with long black hair and a red scarf, "to impress her, as she is stronger than you."

"H-how do you know all of this?" Eren asks, puzzled. His face immediately changed into an angered one. "Who the hell are you?" He walks closer to me, but I just laugh.

"You're not that hard to read Eren. And why does it matter who I am, when you'll probably never see me again?" I tilt my head to the left slightly.

"Because...wait, are you Takeo's sister?" Eren asks.

"Yes. Why?"

"I thought so. Why isn't your brother here to protect you?" Eren asks with a smirk on his face. He knew that comment irritated me.

"I don't need him or anyone. I'm ok by myself." I defensively state.

"Can you BOTH stop bickering?" The girl asks. "You two are just like children. Eren, your mother has told you about your reactions. I would listen to her. And you, whoever you are, leave Eren the hell alone." She says, her voice flat and unchanged.

"Fine. Well, I'm gonna go. Bye Armin." I smile at him. "Bye Eren." I smirk. "and bye girl I don't know the name of. Hope to see you all around." I say, walking away.
