"Hanji, can I ask you a question?"

"Yeah sure!"

"Do you have any family anymore?"

"Yeah I do. I have my mother and my younger brother. They both are safe."

It seems like she's holding herself back from saying more.

"You know you can talk to me, right?"

"Hell yeah! I just have a lot of thinking to do. You know me."

"Surprisingly I know you too well," I laugh.

"Seriously, its really late. Get some sleep. You're going to need rest. After your long day," she says, wiggling her eyebrows again and fixing her glasses.

"Jesus fucking christ. I'm sleeping. Now leave." I shoo her away and I sit back on my bed.

"Just so you know, Levi is interested in you."

What does she mean? What do I think she means?

*Hanji's POV*

She knows exactly what I mean. She's just denying the fact to keep herself from being happy again. She's pushing herself away from the others, except Levi and I. I wonder if she is afraid to get close to anyone due to the high risk of death.

But I noticed when we all were walking, Levi was staring at Y/n occasionally. His eyes, I noticed, were bluer than they normally are. Was that her doing? If so, how?

Also, I never have seen that man smile. Today, I saw him smile when Y/n said are you sorry. She has power over him. Maybe she's the way Levi can be happy. Or well, less stoic.

She is the change Levi needs. What I need. What the Scouts need. What the world needs. She and Levi could do great things for the world. They both are probably the strongest ones here. The fact Y/n is only 16. She has the power of, well, a person of my age or Levi's. (Fuck ages. I mean pedophilia is gross, but this is a fanfic and Im changing Levi's and Hanji's age. They are both in EARLY twenties. Levi- 20 and Hanji-22)

Let's see how she works with the odm gear.

*time skip*

I wake up earlier than Y/n does. All she does is sleep, I swear. I get up from my chair and knock on Y/n's door. I wait but there's no answer. I open the door to wake her up, but shes already gone. Her uniform is gone as well. Let's hope she put it on right this time.

I shut her door and I see a note on the desk. How did I not see it before. It's a neon yellow sticky note.

"Went to go stretch and practice a bit. There is food down stairs and I'm at the secret spot where we all went last night. Btw, I ate already. So don't worry.
-Y/n"

She was up before me? That's new. I put my uniform on and walk down the hallway to the kitchen, only to see the others there. All except for the Captain and.  Y/n. Everyone gave me that look like they were confused too. I smiled and got the food.

"So, what's up?" I say, trying to round up a conversation.

"Y/n and Captain are gone, as you could've probably seen."

"Yeah. Have you seen either of them?" Petra asks.

"I know where Y/n is but I have no idea where Shorty is."

"She needs to come to the kitchen. She needs to eat," Gunther says.

"She already ate. She wrote me a note saying where she is and that she ate so no one worry. It was more directed towards me, but anyway. I have some news."

A few "oh no's" and "not this again's" escape their mouths, but I ignore them as always.

"We have to work with Y/n on the ODM gear. This is where we can find out if she can be a Scout and help us out."

"And if she isn't good with it?" Eld asks.

"She can't join shorty's squad or the Scouts in general."

"Let's hope she can do it," Petra says, smiling.

"I know she can do it. Its whether she believes she can or not. And whether she is focussed and balanced. Well, I'm going to find Y/n. You guys have fun~"

I leave the room but I heard someone say something that caught my attention.

"I don't like Y/n. She seems like she thinks she's a know it all and have you seen the way she's been acting with Levi? It's annoying," Petra says, making me gasp quietly.

"Someone's jealous," Eld says, laughing.

"I'm not. I'm annoyed. Honestly, I don't like how she's talking to the Captain."

"If she was hurting him so bad, Captain would've said something so shut up and eat," Gunther says.

"And I'm the one jealous? Look at you. You are fighting for her. Just because she fought you doesn't mean she likes you. We don't even know if she likes any of us. She doesn't talk and she snaps at the people who she talks to."

"Maybe she doesn't talk to us because we, not even we, you, are like this. You are two-faced," Oulo says, finishing his food. That's the first time he talked.

I'm surprised. Everyone is defending Y/n. I understand why. Petra is being highly unrealistic here. It's not like he's hers.

"So you're all defending her, taking her side? That's awesome."

"Look," Eld says, trying to stay calm, "Y/n is new. She technically doesn't know the rules. However, that doesn't excuse her for her behaviour. Though, Gunther was right. If the Captain was bothered so much, he would've said something or done something worse than you know, cleaning horse stables. Let it go."

Go Eld. Make a point before I lash out on this bitch.

"Whatever. Nice friends you are."

"We are only speaking the truth Petra. It's your choice whether to accept it or not," Eld says, finalizing the argument.

How long has Petra been acting nice to everyone but secretly hated them?

I have to tell Y/n but she'll just shield herself away from everyone once again.
