Chapter thirty-one

Januari POV

"Happy eighteenth birthday princess" the man stood with a huge smile on his face. As much I wanted to punch him and ask him why he abandoned me all my life but I stayed silent.

I picked up my bags and carried them upstairs to my bedroom I sat down on my bed to figure out a lot of things until I heard a knock at the door.

"Hey May I come in?" Mark asked with a look of concern on her face,I moved my bags and patted the space next to me.

"Listen Jan what I'm about to tell you, you may hate me but I've been talking to your dad for a while"

What he was saying was really bugging me to the point where I just wanted to snap but I know I had to just hear him out.

"Ever since you were a baby your dad was there but turns out he had another family down in Pennsylvania, and they adopted me like a few months later because momma got her tubes tied and didn't want to conceive any more
Children, so after everything went down with the courts and stuff the judge said mom got custody of you and dad left for those sixteen years but as you know already know mom is in rehabilitation and when dad found out about your birthday he wanted to fly down to surprise you"

I processed the thoughts, I know it wasn't my fault for him leaving even though I feel like I was the reason why. But I'm older now and I'm old enough to say what's on my mind, the truth may hurt but it's better than a lie.

"Okay I'll talk to him I'll say what I have to say I'll let all my feelings be known"

He hugged me and together we went downstairs and I was again faced with the man who abandoned me most of my life I haven't seen this man since I was two and Mark was ten when my parents adopted him which I'm happy about because if it wasn't for him I'd be in foster care.

"I love you so much Januari Kristabelle Bryant and once again I appreciate you for accepting me and my wrongs"

I hugged him and walked him outside to his car.

"I love you too ...dad

I was happy to have my dad back in my life now all I had to do was see my mom and may be we could possibly be a family again.
