Chapter 15: Finn

I feel light-headed and dizzy. I'm only faintly aware of Clarke speaking to me softly.

I keep coughing up blood and it feels horrible, getting more painful each time. Dr. Griffin said that if the victim starts coughing blood then they only have a few days to live. But I want to live so much longer, to see Clarke's beautiful face, our new house, a future with her.

Sleep drags me away into darkness, and there isn't a nightmare, but a pleasant dream instead.

"Mommy!" a little girl laughs.

Mommy? The girl looks at Clarke, standing at the side of our finished house, attempting to hide.

"I found you, Daddy!" The girl turns around and looks at me. "You weren't even hiding."

Is this our future?

"I'll hide better next time," I play along. "Mommy's turn to count."

"1, 2, 3..." Clarke starts and I go behind the house. "9, 10! Ready or not, here I come!"

"Ssh., " I notice our 'daughter' standing next to me.

"You guys aren't any good at hiding." Clarke stands beside me.

I kiss her nose. "Maybe not."

"You're counting, Finn."

I start to count up to 10, as a smile creeps it's way onto my face.

People have always told me about de ja vu, seeing things in dreams and then they happen in real life. And this is the only time in my entire existence that I hope that this is de ja vu.

"Quick, get out the flowers."

Voices speak all around me, but I'm only aware of one in particular.

Clarke.

"Please hurry." Her voice sounds strained, almost as if she's trying not to cry.

"If you want Finn to live, you have to give me a little time. These crushed petals need to be extremely small or else they'll block his blood vessels."

"They look small enough, just put them in the syringe."

"Fine. Check his pulse."

A hand reaches down to my neck, and I just about manage to move my hand so it sits on top.

"Oh, Finn." Clarke kisses my forehead.

I want to wake up and tell her how much I love her, but my lips are dry and stuck together with dry blood. I open my mouth slightly and say "Clarke."

"What's his pulse?" The voices are getting clearer. This one sounds like a very irritated Lincoln.

"It's steady. Give me the syringe. Now be quiet, I need to get this into the right artery."

There's a stabbing pain in my chest, but I can't feel it very much.

"I'm done," Clarke says. "When will he wake up?"

"Just about now."

My eyes open slowly, just enough to see Clarke hovering over me.

My throat starts to fill with bile, and I turn over on my side and puke into a bucket.

"What's wrong with him?" Clarke pleads desperately.

"His body is getting rid of the virus, he'll be like this for at least an hour - throwing up and stuff," Lincoln says.

"Shall we leave him?" I see Octavia standing next to Lincoln.

"Probably."

"I'm staying with him." Clarke sits on the side of my bed.

"He needs to get better."

"I'll make sure he gets better. I can keep an eye on him."

"It's for the best." Lincoln grabs Clarke's wrist and tries to move her.

"No! Finn! I need to stay with him." She struggles to get out of his grip. He picks her up and puts her over his shoulder.

"I'm okay," I croak. I reach for the bucket again and throw up.

"You're not. Lincoln, please just let me stay."

Lincoln sighs and puts Clarke down. "Just stay here. Don't go anywhere near him.

They leave the the drop ship and Clarke runs over to me. She empties out the bucket and wipes my face, only for me to be sick again.

"Oh my god, stop throwing up!" she shouts. "I can't stand to see you like this!"

"I'm sorry. I can't help it."

"I know it's not your fault."

Murphy walks through the door.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" he asks. There's a glint in his eye that I don't like.

"Can you keep an eye on Finn until he stops puking?"

"Sure."

Clarke climbs up the ladder to the upper level and shuts the door.

Murphy walks over to the chair by my bed and sits down. He studies me carefully, as if he's plotting something. His eyes dart around the drop ship. He then focuses on something, but I can't see it. He gets up and gets that something.

The next thing I know is that Murphy trying to kill me.
