Chapter 19: Finn
Clarke lies in bed asleep, her breathing uneven. How could Murphy do that to her? Thanks to him, Clarke now has a purple bruise on her neck.
There's a rapid knock on the door. I get up and answer it and Charlotte stands there holding a bunch of wilting flowers.
"I'm sorry," she says.
"For what?" I ask.
"For everything. Is Clarke here?"
"She's as -" Charlotte pushes past me and into the bedroom. She pokes Clarke's shoulder and Clarke wakes up with a start.
"What are you doing here? I saw you sneak in to camp yesterday."
"I'm sorry about Wells."
"You've already apologised; I don't want to talk about Wells right now." She pulls the covers over her head.
"The last time I apologised we were running from Murphy. It didn't feel genuine. It felt too rushed and scared. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Clarke pulled the cover from her head. "You're forgiven. I'm sorry, too, for yelling at you that night."
"I forgive you as well. I picked these for you." Charlotte hands Clarke the flowers. "I'll leave now, I've overstayed my welcome here." She walks towards the door.
"Maybe you can stay longer next time," I say.
"Bye." She waves awkwardly and shuts the door.
I turn to Clarke; she has dry tears on her face.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I ask, running towards the bed.
"Just thinking about him, thinking about Wells - it makes me upset. I have so many memories of me and him, playing together as little kids, talking for endless amounts of time until -"
"Clarke!" It's Bellamy. Uh. "Meet me in the drop ship immediately!"
"I'll be back soon." She kisses my cheek before nervously leaving the house.

I sit there listening carefully in a tangle of wires. How, you ask? I snuck under the drop ship to hear Bellamy and Clarke. Of course the speaking isn't very clear under the floor but it will have to do. I've been waiting under here for a few minutes, now, something exciting should happen soon.
"What? " Bellamy roars angrily. There's the something.
"Did you finally put two-and-two together?" Clarke asks. "Did it really take that long for you to realise we would do it eventually?"
"Of course I knew you would!"
"Why are you getting so worked up about this? Jealous?"
"No! Why would I be jealous of a traitor and an idiot that wasted a month of oxygen?"
"Hey." There's a pounding which I assume is Clarke's footsteps. "I may be a traitor, but I was doing the right thing. And Finn isn't an idiot, and even if he was, he would be the most-loved idiot ever. I don't care if you can't stick him, he's in my life and if you are jealous then I'm sorry. I don't want you to be jealous. But I love Finn."
"And back to love. If you are pregnant," - his voice wobbles - "what will we do? We don't have the right facilities for a baby, let alone ourselves."
"Me and Finn will be fine. I should be going."
That's my cue. I rush out the drop ship and meet Clarke just as she walks through the door.
"Hey, beautiful." I pick her up by her waist.
"What put you in such a good mood?"
"Oh, nothing. Just being with you makes me happy."
"What have you done that your trying to cover up?"
"Nothing! I'm just happy to see you."
"You can't fool me that easily, what did you do?"
"I may have heard your conversation with Bellamy..."
"How? Those doors are soundproof."
"I was underneath it. I was just checking on you, Bellamy sounded angry when he called for you." I hold her hand.
"He was jealous of us. Haven't you noticed that?"
"Doesn't matter. We have each other and he can't interfere." I pick her up again and start walking.
"Well, at least try to stay confident about that."

That selfie at the top is from after I bought Day 21 and cleanly peeled off the sticker. I was sitting in Starbucks and all the other white girls were staring at me.
