Chapter 30: Clarke

The silence fallen around camp is deafening. It's all I can hear, yet I can't hear anything. Not a cry, a sob, or even a tiny whisper. They don't exist, they refuse to.

I don't want to listen to them anyway. Even if I could, I would try and block them out. I would block out everything. Everyone. I'm waiting for someone to smash through the silence, to make this moment end. I don't want to live in this moment in time right now, I want to escape it and be back on the Ark. Everything was so much simpler, right down to food or how we got to places we needed to be. Earth is different, and I hate it. I hate these changes. Everything is changing. I change a little everyday, with a baby inside me. I only like that change. With this change I'm with Finn, and I'm a part of him. Properly.

I'm still waiting. I'm sitting on my bed with Finn next to me. He hasn't said a word, and neither have I. I wonder who will break the silence first.

"Today has taken an unexpected turn," he says, taking a sip of water from a cup on the side of our bed.

"Just like Murphy's neck." I sigh. Finn spits out his water, spraying it across the floor.

"What?" he says. "Did you really just say that?"

"There's nothing else to say."

"You could have at least not said that."

"I'll stay quiet, then." I fall back onto the bed. "What will we do with them?"

"With what?" He lies back too.

"The bodies. What will we do?"

"We can't leave them there, so... Bury them?"

"Yeah. Finn." I turn on my side. "I want you to know, no matter what, I will always love you."

"I will always love you, too!" He kisses my nose.

"I'm serious. This isn't some words we can just throw around, I mean them. I love you."

***time lapse to five months later when she has tha babeyyyy. like she has just had the baby and stuff***

"It's a girl," Lincoln says. He doesn't have his neutral expression like normal, a smile is plastered across his mouth.

I hold our beautiful baby girl in my arms. She's fast asleep and Finn hands me a blanket to wrap her in. She opens her eyes a little so I can see them. They're a bright blue.

"She has your eyes," Finn says, lowering himself to look at her. "They're just like yours."

"And she has your hair," I say, touching the small dark brown tufts of hair on her head.

"It's amazing to think that this is what me and you have made, what we've created. And it's amazing." Finn sits back next to me on the bed. "How are you?"

"Very tired." I roll onto my side, accidentally knocking the baby; she starts to cry.

Finn picks her up, trying to shush her. "Shh," he coos. Her cries soften a little and her eyes open again, wide and glassy.

"How did you do that?" I ask.

"I don't know. I just did. Here." He passes her to me. "You hold her."

I take her into my arms. I can feel her tiny heartbeat against her chest. It gets a little quicker as she grabs my pinky finger and squeezes it. A smile makes it across my face.

"What do you want to call her?" Finn asks.

"I can't think of a name... What about you?"

"I like a few: Avery, Phoenix, Harper."

"I like Harper," I say. "But will she be Harper Griffin or Harper Collins?" He starts to laugh. "What's so funny?"

"Before the nuclear apocalypse, there was a book publishing business called Harper Collins. I was just thinking about that."

"Well, let's not name her after a business."

"Okay. Harper Griffin it is."

A/N

I can't believe I've finished the book! And also I have 6.66K reads, so I'm Satan now.

I was thinking just a minute ago, "Harper Collins or Harper Griffin?" And I realised that Harper Collins was a book publishing business so I googled it and I was laughing so much. I had to add it in.

The first chapter of Queen will be published Sunday 7th of December (I think that's the date but it will definitely be published on Sunday). As I've said already there will be weekly updates.
